Snorkeling with turtles and tropical fish

We'll be in Barbados on Feb. 17th and DH and DS really want to snorkel in Barbados. However, DS's girlfriend and I want to spend the day at the beach. We don't want to schedule an excursion to snorkel because females don't want to venture to the beach alone and be separated all day from DH and DS. Is there a beach where the guys can swim out to the turtles or, perhaps, grab a shuttle/ferry that brings them to the turtle area? Also, is the turtle area a good place to see tropical fish?

If you go to Paynes Bay there will be boats willing to take you to the turtles and a sunken barge. The beach has all the amenities you will need. Beware of the boats. If it is a rough day they will dump you near the shore. When we were there we went to Folkstone first and took the bus the few miles to Paynes. Some of each. We talked to some one that swam out and he only saw 2 turtles. We saw at least a dozen with the boat. So if you swim out , go when the boats are there and be careful.
