carlylecat Posted December 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2009 Just packing up after a great morning run - perfect day in here in San Juan, big billowy clouds and about 80 degrees.... Arrived yesterday in grand style..I know most of us like to stay in Old San Juan but the service level of the Ritz is hard to beat...we paid for a VIP arrival ($300) and they had two staff plus a driver met us at the FBO (M&N aviation, ok but pretty dated facilities but I am not sure there is another FBO as we always seem to use this one) with room keys all done and pre-registered, loaded all of our bags in a van (9 of us and 21 bags, ouch) and headed to the hotel, parked in front of the side entrance and escorted us through the side the hotel to an elevator that was being held for us and then upstairs to our suites and connecting rooms...we all felt like rock stars it was quite a treat ..All 5 rooms were perfect and all together at the end of the hall, they even had a decorated Christmas tree in the living room of our main suite... We had a private dinner on the beach for the 9 of us...they put a round table about 50 yards from the water line and had a music player for our iPods and decorated the table with a small Christmas tree and green and red glitter, santa place card holders and covered the chairs in red and green linens...they even printed a menu with all of our names on it! The chef cooked lobster, chicken and steaks on a grill downwind from our table and they had torches set up and we ate while the waves gently broke about 30 yards away...no bugs and great moon and stars, the food was Sea Dreamesque and to everyone's liking...we stayed out there drinking and dancing to the kids iPods until eleven, it was great! Going to head over to SD1 in two waves today, sending a scouting group over at 2 pm to get everything aboard while a team of us stay behind at the hotel to watch some NY Giants football before we board...I have to say this is our fourth visit to this Ritz and the hotel has really upped their service offering...
