Pettifogger Posted December 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2009 This past year, our good fortune in having a cruise line generous enough to share its empty cabins with us at bargain prices, meant that I was able to qualify for three star status in less than twelve months. I also had the opportunity to try a veranda, even though I'm no more than ocean view class in socioeconomic terms. HAL has brightened my declining years, perhaps not as a charitable gesture, still at a considerable cost to itself, and I think it and the other cruise lines have already been subjected to more than enough financial deprivation, so I'm hoping the cruise market returns to normal soon, even though that will end these bargains. I've already enjoyed more cruises than I ever thought I'd be able to afford, so whatever happens, I'm way ahead. I learned about CC before I learned about HAL and, even though it was HAL that "delivered the goods," it was the combination of the two that made it so much fun. I shan't be cruising on HAL this year for reasons that are not pertinent here, but I wish everyone as many wonderful cruises next year as I enjoyed last year. Pettifogger Posted January 2, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted January 2, 2010 jena1: Thanks for your very kind wishes, but it's just a question of moving to some other board, not entirely abstaining from cruising.
