Leaving ship in Fort Lauderdale

Honestly I have not heard that-we cruise Princess a fair amount and Ft. Lauderdale is their home port- we usually see a long queue of cabes when disembarking. The new 6000 plus passenger Mega-ship Oasis of the seas is now using Fort Lauderdale-maybe on the days that ship is coming and going there are issues?

Let me see-disembarked at 10:30 Sat am while oasis and several other ships were iin FLL. Our Zuiderdam had a 45 minute disembark delay mid way thru the process. As we watched down below, traffic seemed to be very sparse and slow. At airport, big terminal backups because per tsa guard, airlines could not handle onslaught of bags and you were only allowed to checkin 2 hrs prior and had to stay out of security and gate until then. HOwever, it was like this a year ago. For lack of better explanation, could the stop on disembark be caused by port traffic? Anyway, there was a slow and steady line of about 6 regular cabs. A dispatcher at curb handles cab lines. Cab line was looong, but orderly and slooow. With 3 people, we had a cab problem in the past because we needed a mini-van size. Last year was awful, people in cab line were very upset and very aggressive because wait was sooo long. This year we had hotel that we stayed with prior to cruise find us a car service. I hesitate to name because we had a quoted price prior, but driver got a little greedy and named a much higher price, till we said we would call back our contact.

depends on where your ship parks and how many other ships the cabs need to go by before getting to yours.

On Costa we were parked across from the Zuiderdam and the cabs had to go past that ship (and passengers wanting cabs) before getting to our pier. It took HOURS before the Z was empty enough that the cabs made it over to us
