Will be on RCCL in February. Anybody take this tour? Do you get to walk around at the ruins? What did you think about it? Thanks

I'd question the half day part, is that 4 hours, or 6 hours. My sense is its a 6 hour tour at minimum. Altun Ha is about 30 miles north of Belize City and the roads aren't in the best of condition all the way. Plus there's traffic with other tours heading that way. If the only stops in Belize City are the church and cultural center, they are right across the street from each other and a short distance (mile to mile and a half at most) from the Tourist Vilalge. The cultual center has been undergoing renovations and hasn't been fully open. Church is maybe 15 minutes tops if you wander inside. Cultural center is about the same if you can only go to half the first floor. Nice views from the grounds though. Smokey Mermaid is next to the Tourist Village. So your biggest time factor is getting to and from Altun Ha, which is worth seeing. find out the times of the tours and look at your ship's schedule in port and figure last tender is an hour before departure. Then determine if you might have enough time with an hour or two to spare as a safety factor.

We did this tour last month and really enjoyed it.

We did not get off the bus except at the ruins, the Belize City part of the tour was just the bus ride. They took us out to Altun Ha thru the northern part of the city (city tour), we spent quite a bit of time at the ruins, and yes we were able to climb on top of them, that was fun. On the ride back to port, they took us thru a different part (southern) of the city. They dropped us off at a restaurant, but we declined and went back to the port area for a little shopping and tender back to the ship.
