Maineac Posted January 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2010 From the pictures I've seen I've been unable to determine if the bedroom vanity mirrors can be opened into a three way mirror. Also could you tell me if the suites lighting is on dimmers. Thank you, Judy

DebbieH103 Posted January 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2010 We also tried and couldn't, and somehow those TVs are integrated. We had numerous problems with the TV, as did a number of guests, and it is on a reboot system where one guy has to do it every time you call. He was keeping a log and trying to figure out a pattern, so I hope he got it solved. I am wondering why they didn't make them alike and make them both invisible when off. The one in the sitting area remains a black square even though that area has a bench seat, also.
meow! Posted January 6, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2010 Perhaps it will be more expensive to make them both invisible when off. You need it invisible at the make-up table for obvious reasons. As for the one in the sitting area, perhaps they feel the need to show that they do have (an obvious) television in the cabin!
Maineac Posted January 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2010 a) They look like they should but I can't get 'em to move b) Nope. On/Off. Thanks for the information Craig, It's a bit of a disappointment regarding the mirrors. I've always enjoyed having that "luxury" while primping for our evening. And having the ability to dim the lights is a wonderful option to have...... They obviously didn't consult with me while designing the suite. Oh well, not the end of the world. Enjoy, Judy
DebbieH103 Posted January 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2010 Judy, there are several lights. They have the recessed in the ceiling and then lamps on the walls, and you can at least achieve a little of this by using the lamps only. I would like the dimming, too. meow! Posted January 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2010 And having the ability to dim the lights is a wonderful option to havePerhaps they are thinking of energy efficiency down the road (going fluorescent) and those lights cannot be dimmed. By the way, we dislike fluoresent lights, they make that high pitch noise that hurt some (especially feline) ears.

CASHIPman Posted January 8, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 8, 2010 I hope that's not the case. There's one flourecent light in the stateroom and that's above the balcony curtain. It makes no noise...be it on or off. Don't get caught up in any negativity due to lack of knowledge, Maineac! The Spirit isn't perfect but she's a lovely vessel. DebbieH103 Posted January 9, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Well, I am almost afraid to post these, please don't criticize. Todd took some video the first day of the cruise before we sailed, and he had never used the camera. We are just amateurs at it. I think part of the time, he was zoomed in without knowing it. Anyway, I warn you, they are broadband and sometimes you hear the commentary and sometimes not as we were just walking around touring. I think there is enough there that some will want to see it. There is Seishin, The Restaurant, Le Champagne (don't see where we took STARS or La Terazza. I thought we did, but I am not seeing them), the spa, silver suite 1111, the casino, the pool deck, observation lounge, panorama lounge, and the bar. You can go to YouTube and search LuxuryCruiseandLand, and you should find our channel there.

The videos are great.....you get more of a feeling about the various publice rooms than you do on all the other clips currently on You Tube. The Observation Lounge looks like a cosy area - did it ever get busy?? The Silver Suite video makes it seem like that category is well designed & a good use of space. I know most of the feedback on The Bar has been quite positive, but from your clip it looks quite cramped...did you find this to be the case? Thanks for posting these - much appreciated & very informative! :)
DebbieH103 Posted January 9, 2010 #21 Share Posted January 9, 2010 I must say we forgot about the observation lounge. We had fun playing with that telescope at first and then forgot to go back up there. The bar never felt cramped at all, nor did any other public area. There were times like trivia and Name that Tune where people moved a few chairs around, but the room is serviceable. They had pastries in the morning, boullion after that and then sandwiches and hot nuts (and they have a sandwich menu, including paninis), and then tea and then the canapes. Unlike the other SS ships we have been on, the bar serves more than soft drinks during the day and is actually open. Amadeo plays nice tunes at night, but there are other good entertainment venues, too, so people go to various places. It really is nice to have a little more going on around the ship. There are people that don't like the bar being off the lobby and liked it aft, but we liked the new location a lot. I really liked to hang out and see who came by, particularly since the pool deck was scarecely used on a number of days on our voyage.
Rare WesW Posted January 9, 2010 #22 Share Posted January 9, 2010 two tips (one not good) follow: if you book cabin 644(directly above lobby bar piano/band) you will hear music until midnight every night. the couple who had occupied this suite ask to be moved and SS accomodated them down the hall a few suites. this is the most serious "poor" systemic issue on the spirit I believe...deals with the mobility challenged folks (e.g., you use a wheelchair or walker) u CANNOT get the wheelchair or walker thru the door way. JoAnne (who posts on CC, SS thread) is using a walker now and can't get it to her side of the bed..makes it very difficult for her to get up from the bed. The doorways are too narrow for wheelchairs and walkers to pass through.

I always try to look above and below as well as the immediate surrounding area before booking a cabin, but you can never be too careful.
DebbieH103 Posted January 9, 2010 #24 Share Posted January 9, 2010 We were in 606, and we heard the ship noises of coming into port loudly every day, at least I did. Todd usually did not wake up. The wheelchairs stay in the hallway.
