explorer2000 Posted January 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2010 I have found that the Boatyard is only a short drive from the pier, but can not seem to locate it on any map. Perhaps it is a different name? Could anyone please help me? Is it a "west" beach, or a "south" beach?
goneclear Posted January 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2010 If you use Google Earth it is just south east of the waterway that goes through Bridgetown. You will see a pier and thats the boatyard pier.

debshomespun Posted January 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Our first time to the Boatyard area, we actually walked to the beach from the ship. It isn't really all that far. We walked down the boardwalk area, then through town, then to the beach. Walked the beach most of the day, back and forth, then walked back to the ship. Very nice relaxing day! :D

Very nice relaxing day! :D If you're the walking type, what you describe is quite possible! Check it out on Google Earth and you'll see that Carlisle Bay isn't that far from the Port. For older, perhaps less-active folks, a lot depends on how hot and humid it is That Day and it may be simpler to just take a taxi. .
josumello Posted January 9, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Does the beach have amenities such as chairs, food etc? Thanks Sue
Johnthed0g Posted January 9, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Quite agree that it can be done but when advising people in general you have to assume that some can't do it...or they try it at night.
Aplmac Posted January 9, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Does the beach have amenities such as chairs, food etc? At beach hangouts like Lobster Alive and Boatyardyes there are chairs and umbrellas available -but rental arrangements vary. There are a few other hangouts along this long beach, some more "native" than others,I'm told where you can get food and drink and maybe some shade too. Although Carlisle Bay is one of our biggest beaches, it's a recent beach and as such it's relatively undeveloped, commercially -for now. .
