18 year old meet and greet

My brother and his family just returned from the Dream. He said in the capers they listed a meet and greet for 18-20 year olds the first night (or morning). He has an 18 year old high school senior. Does anyone know if other ships have begun doing this? He also said his son found out halfway through the cruise that he could go to O2 activities if he had a current HS photo ID. He had called Carnival before the cruise and asked and they had said no. He thought it may be up to the individual O2 director on each ship. Anyone have any experience with this?
