We will be on a cruise end of May thst stops in Marseille 8am to 5pm and LeHavre 8am to 8pm Can someone who has been to these ports tell me what to focus on in the short amount of time we have there?

We would like to arrange a private tour so information on tour companies would be appreciated.

We have been to Paris already and would probably like to see the Normandy beaches. Any information and direction is appreciated

LeHavre does offer decent access to Normandy. We prefer to simply rent a car and drive ourselves, but there are several private tour companies that can arrange tours. Keep in mind that private tours in France are quite expensive. A one day rental car will generally cost less than $150 (including gas) and gives you maximum flexibility. You would also have some tour options offerered by your cruise line which is fine if you do not mind that cost and being part of a large bus group. As to Marseille, this is a good gateway port to explore part of Provence. You have many options here including the usual tours or doing things on your own. There are excellent train connections between Marseille and Aix en Provence and it's also possible to use trains to get to a few other cities. A rental car really does expand options just like it would in the states. Keep in mind that the French drive on the right (just like in the US) and has excellent roads. Renting (or having your own) GPS makes navigation quite easy.

Thanks Hank for the information. I will cut and paste your suggestion into my vacation folder.
