4 nite Navigator 1/7 - 1/11

Just came off the 4-nite Navigator (2 seas and 1 day in Cozumel).

Embarkation was a breeze! No lines, just walked right up to the counter, checked in, got our Seapass cards and voila! We were onboard. Had an awesome hump cabin. Our cabin steward came by shortly after we arrived in our cabin to ask if we needed anything....we asked for ice twice a day, and he never missed. We encountered a couple of problems - we gave our steward drycleaning the first day, and needed it back for formal nite, along with some other cruisewear items. Unfortunately, our things were ‘lost’ until the morning of the last day. We had talked with the Diamond Desk before leaving, and asked for a table for 2, preferably by a window, in the MDR. When being seated, we were taken to a table for 8, no where near a window, with 3 couples already seated who told the waiter that “this is OUR table, and we just want it for ourselves”. Okaaaayyyy.....Took about 15 minutes for them to find another table to seat us at, which they said wouldn’t be the same table the following night. Didn’t matter, because we had reservations the second nite at Portofino’s (so worth the extra $$ and even more!!). The third nite we received a call telling us they had a table for us in the MDR....we got the table for 2, smack in the middle of the dining room. Oh well.....so much for requests. We thought the food in the MDR was better than we had experienced the last couple of cruises.

I thought the ship itself was in very good shape.

We did opt to eat in the Windjammer the last nite, only because we weren’t at all hungry at our appointed dining time (6:00). We did stop by the dining room to let our wait staff know, and to give them their envelopes. Darios (sp?) was great! I had mentioned the nite before that I missed the escargot on formal nite (we were in Portofino’s), and I LOVE escargot. Surprisingly, he had arranged for the escargot for our last nite!! So, we had them as an appetizer, then later went to the Windjammer.....now that’s what I call attentive service!!

It’s hard to say it was a ‘great’ cruise, because the weather was absolutely horrid - cold, windy, the ship was rolling. If it weren’t for the weather, it would have been really wonderful. We couldn’t even go out on our balcony - too cold and windy. Only the first day at sea was mostly nice - still a chilly, but the sun did shine a bit.

The only show we went to see was the ice show, which I thought was very, very good. Every time one of the skaters did a lift, or a jump, my heart was in my mouth that there would be a nasty fall because of the ship’s movement. Those skaters were really very good....

Spent a lot of time in the casino (as we always do - and a little too much).....did okay....certainly didn’t come home winners, but the machines did pay enough to keep going. Won a couple of $600ish jackpots. Trick was not to put it all back. We didn’t learn that trick. Sigh.....

Debarkation was pretty smooth. We chose early disembarkation, the first off with white tags. We were ‘dismissed’ at about 6:45, however, our luggage didn’t start being sent out‘til nearly 7:30, and the terminal was FREEZING! I do think that RCCL shouldn’t have let us off until the luggage had been released to keep everyone from just standing around and freezing - many weren’t prepared for the cold temperatures.

Was at work on time at 9:00.....that was the worst part of the day......

Sounds like you had a nice cruise other then the cool weather. So how was Cozumel?

Thanks for posting.

We didn't even get off the ship in Cozumel - high winds, rain and cold. Nearly everyone we spoke with onboard either stayed on, or went off just to do a little shopping in the marketplace at the pier.....a few went on excursions - I think to Tulum - and said they were sorry they went - just too cold and miserable.....
