HAL Veendam - Brazil - Rough seas in March ??

Hi Folks.

Thinking of doing the 14 day Brazil to Buenos Aires on the Veendam on the 14th March....stops include Paraty, Isla Grande, Isla Bella, Buzios, Santos, Buenos Aires and Montivideo. Starting and ending in Rio. Can anyone shed any info on any aspects...ie what are peoples current views on HAL Veendam, has anybody done the Brazilian itinerary above and if so what were the ports like and last but not least how are the seas in that part of the world mid to end March time...any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Pip.

That's a new, and fairly exotic, itinerary. I doubt that you'll get too much information about the ports on this board. There probably aren't too many people who have been to them.

You might get some info over on the Ports of Call forum. Other lines may have gone to those ports, and there may be some posters there who could fill you in.

I've only sailed south out of Rio in January (twice). It was broad ocean, so there was some movement, but nothing extraordinary north of the Rio de la Plata.

YMMV.

No guarantees re sea state.

We sailed North from Buenos Aires to a couple of Brazilian ports, East across the Atlantic to Dakar Senegal, and then North to Barcelona Spain on the late great Royal Princess, Mar 98, and the seas were very calm. Barely knew we were upon the water.

Sailed South from Buenos Aires, and 'round the Horn, Mar 2006, Regal Princess, and there was mild chop, but we were able to get into the Falklands, a port often missed due to sea state and winds. It was somewhat rougher down near Patagonia.
