loudbmw Posted January 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Hard to answer your question without knowing the cost of the cruise. $160 off is a great deal on a low cost cruise, not so good if it's costing $4,000. Any discounts your TA gives you are off their commission. They do not earn commission on port charges or taxes. Lou
Cruisin Amy Posted January 16, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2005 The Cruise Rate is $610.00 which includes a Past Guest Rate for a 7 day Western...and the $160.00 is off of the whole cabin..we will have 2 adults and 2 kids!
GoinCruisin Posted January 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2005 If you post the cruise date/ship/category of cabin, etc. Some may be able to tell you if it is a good deal or not. I'm assuming that the rate you are paying is going to be $450pp? ($610 cruise rate minus the $160) Which sounds like a great deal. Is this OV or Inside? GoinCruisin Posted January 16, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Amy, so is she willing to take $160 off the past cruise rate of $610? If so, go for it! That is a great price for a balcony cabin! Is this for a guarantee cabin?

CruiseVirginfromBrooklyn Posted January 17, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Hmmm - it is my understanding that travel agents are no longer allowed to discount cruises in that manner, meaning offering discounts "lower" than anyone else - maybe i'm misinformed but, that's what i understood when i booked my cruise on the liberty... CruiseVirginfromBrooklyn Posted January 17, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Thanks good to know - and I'm still happy - we booked early enough on the Liberty that we got a Category 11 for what regular balcony cabins are going for now but, it's still good to know for future cruise shopping! :D

TDCRose Posted January 17, 2005 #18 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Looks like the average commission on the cruise fare only would be 166.00. Agent is rebating most of the commission back to you. Sound like a very good price to me.
