4 ships; 12000 people; we're last ship in; what activities won't be packed?

3 other ships get in at 8am & we get in at 10am. Guessing the West End/Bay beaches, zip lines, and Bodden's monkies will be packed by the time we get on the island?!?

Thinking Maya Key just to escape the crowds (haven't seen a comment yet about that place being jammed).

But what other activities are out there that might be ok? What about a Bodden-type tour where we ask them to head NorthEast out of Mahogany Bay? Maybe more secluded beaches, snorkeling, fishing villages out that way? Would rather visit 'real' villages & 'locals' beaches instead of a touristy beach anyway.

Any tips?

You'll be up in Mahogany Bay. There's only be one other ship up there. If the weather is nice that beach could get crowded. Victor, Ronny or Juan could arrange tours for you. Goiing NE along the main road is French Harbor, the Jonesville and Oak Ridge. There's a couple of private resort/condo places that may take day visitors but you'd have to contact them in advance. There are some threads on these places on these boards, you'll just have to search for them. Divers tend to head up toward the upper NE but via a boat as road doesn't go up that way and a lot of the northern part of the island is a perserve. A drive down to the West End and then up the western side could be expensive via a cab but a tour might work. Email Victor or Rony (or look for info on Juan here) and see what they recommend. Remeber to get to any of these folks, you'll have to climb a 400 yard hill (in addition to going up the hill to get out of the pier area) and then go out the gate to reach their waiting area. So keep that in mind as well.

We were looking for a beach where we could sit and not have 500 people walking by and 50 people trying to sell us something. We took Victor advise to go to Camp Bay Beach , there was nobody there but us!!! the tour buses does not go there, he has one of his drivers with a four wheel drive who took us there. If you request Will , he will take good care of you, he was polite and stayed with us the whole time. Safe and relax, this was the highlight of our trip.

There is a Garifuna place on the way , you stop there for about 20 minutes and learn about the black people who live on the island , very interesting, you can dance to their drums and try out their cooking... if you want to get away from the crouds, have Victor arrange for Will to be available for you. Be aware that it is about 40 minutes drive from the port and part of it is on a dirt road. You will be almost to the eastern tip of the island.

Have fun and I hope you can tell us about your trip when you return.

Wow, just saw a pic of Camp Bay Beach. That place looks beautiful! Couple questions: 1) re: the 40 minute ride, does it have views, or is it mostly just dense jungle. 2) Is there any place to eat there, or should we eat before we head out that way? Thanks!

try something different. The Sante Wellness Spa is actually on the water, has a hot tub right by the water, a pool, fabulous spa treatments and fresh food. The price is fabulous and it is quite an experience. It is very small so you do need to reserve well in advance. You can also snorkel there and even dive--a nice beach area.

Camp Bay Beach or the East end is secluded uncrowded and beautiful beach, there are two places to eat there, one is the Camp Bay Beach Adventure Lodge, snorkeling, Kayak tours through the Mangroves, awesome food, nice owners will actually share info about the island and other places to stop, ice cold beer, pretty beachfront resort with free public access to the beach and parking the other is La Serena's small cane hut on the water neat place also with food and drinks definitely worth the drive if you want to escape the crowds and see the real island. The way there is part of the fun 4 miles , dirt road very drivable with views and a few stops on the way, there is a gas station with restrooms just as you get on the gravel road, both of the above places also had public restrooms.

Paya Bay is a beautiful place to stay (and a nice place to eat), but I think the beach at Camp Bay is nicer (Paya Bay is rockier vs a sandier beach, but both are nice). In fact, we think Camp Bay is the nicest beach on the island. There are some nice vistas on the drive (6 huts/the view is a spectacular spot and the resturant there used to be pretty good- I haven't been there for a while so I'm sure someone else can say if it still is). Camp Bay is still relatively quiet- you probably won't see any cruise shippers there. Bring bug spray!

Im so confused. Where is Mahogany Bay located on this map. Im getting confused with the other port and no where do I see Mahogany bay on the map

http://subwaywatersports.com/About/how_to_get_here.htm

I want to go kayaking with subway water tours just by renting kayaks. Or go kayaking through the mangroves if there is alot to see but not sure where to do that. See alot of people posting about it though.

If you look at your other post about the same exact thing you will see I provided you with the information you request. It is not the same map but it is the same island and should be enough to explain where MB is. Just look at your previous post, I replied 3 or so hours before you posted the same question again in this thread
