Things to do before flight

We will be returning from our cruise on 3/14 and our flight doesnt leave until 9:15 PM. Ive read somewhere on this board that carnival has some kind of service that will take your bags to the airport and check them in for you? Is this for all cruises? Is there a time limit minimum before your flight?

If we are without luggage we'd like some suggestions on things to do in the city. It appears the city is near the port so im sure we could kill some time walking around and exploring. We wont have a car so anything far away probably isnt an option because cabs can get expesive.

Thanks

You will need to leave the port area to see any of Miami Beach or any other area. The port is downtown which is basically like any other large city. If you can't get rid of your luggage, (ask on Carnival's board) I'd rent a car for the day.

Or if your bags can be sent on to the airport, cab it to South Beach area for the beach, restaurants, shopping etc. There is a list of other things to do in Miami area here....

We used Carnival's Express Luggage service last spring - check the web site and with the purser's desk for details and to see if your airline is part of the program. For $20 each (plus whatever your airline charges for bags:mad:) Carnival prints your boarding passes and luggage tags. We put our bags outside the door the night before returning to Miami - did not see our bags again until the luggage claim in DC! Best $20 I ever spent!:D

Sleep in, enjoy breakfast on the ship, and they will still push you off the ship by 9:00 AM or so. I'd take a cab to Miami Beach and enjoy the day - great beach, shopping, lunch, etc... A cab from POM will run $10-15 depending upon where you get out. Blue Heron's blog will give you lots of info - Good luck!
