Just G'ma! She is way too much. I doubt any of this is true, but if it is cc'ers have no one to blame but themselves for actually putting this subject in writing for all to see...including but not limited to all Carnival personnel and management! UGH! CC monitors should remove these posts immediately, if for no reason other than it's been talked/written to death! Enough already.
I agree-Let`s talk about chair hogs:D

Sides, CCL knows that if you have a nip or two before dinner, chances are good you`ll have a couple more with or after dinner.

....or be a little looser at the casino....as is the case with yours truly. One way or another, Carnival gets our money on board!
This is the first I've heard of this. Everything that I've read on these boards indicates that you have to order from Bon Voyage prior to your cruise and that you can't order spirits by the bottle from room service.
We were on a 7 day cruise and I had read on these boards that you could do it so I gave it a try. Its true you pay more for the convenience and boy was it convenient! Our steward kept filling our ice, we used our drink of the day cup, poured the rum and then up to lido deck for the free fruit punch. We would sit at the bar and on occasion order shots or what-have-you. When the drink ran dry then we went back to our cabin to do it all over again. We took the stairs the whole time so we didnt gain any weight on this cruise! Room service onboard was the way to go for saving money...except of course smuggling. :D
You have to call Carnival Bon Voyage @ 1-800-522-7648
just called them :) they gave me the prices over the phone absolut sky and finlandia vodka are all 40.00 for a 1 liter
Grey goose and 3 olive are 60.00

Rum are all 40.00 except for mailbu 45.00 ??? jeez really malibu is the CHEAPEST rum...

and my favorite Amaretto is 45.00

now i went to carinval drink menu.. 40.00 divided by 5.75 which is their price for a rum drink, gratuity not included,, equals about 5 drinks from the bar.. im not sure how many drinks we would get out of a one liter.. but 40.00 doesnt seem that bad for some cost cutting to make your own...

google searched the answer on how many drinks you can make.. it said there are about 25 shots per 1 liter.. so 25 normal drinks... LOL or 12 strong drinks if you use double shots in each drink...

12 drinks onboard carnival is 79.35 at 5.75 per drink.. so the savings is about 40.00 bucks ( ON THE DOUBLE SHOT DRINKS.. or 125.00 in savings on single shot drinks.. to pre order your hard booz :) not bad at all... think we will order two bottles from the bon voyage dept

I was all about believing you until you made this statement. We all know that fruit punch was done away with over a year ago throughout the fleet.
Went through the airport metal detector on Jan 5. Close enough to the crotch bomber that settings were probably on their most sensitive settings.
The only metal [besides fillings] I had on was the brass buckle of my military style web belt. Beeeep! Took off belt, no beep. Cannot imagine that a metal as dense as lead would not also set off a detector on ANY setting.
I used to work at a nuclear power plant for 17 years and part of my job was testing the security systems to include x-ray, metal and explosive detectors. You can take a lead brick for shielding radiation and it will not set off the metal detector.

Another thing that amazes me is if a metal detector is on a concrete floor with rebar, it decreases the sensitivity in the lower area.
I just ordered 1 bottle of Absolute vodka $40
1 bottle of Capt. Morgan spiced rum $40
1 bottle of Malibu rum $60

All bottles are the 1.75ml size, so the "big" bottles. Spendy yes, but I will enjoy them.
Roscoe13, I know you meant 1.75 liters, not milliliters, but you may not have gotten the size you think. According to the following thread, bottle sizes more likely .75L or 1.0L: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1122685

You may want to call Bon voyage Dept. again and confirm your order. Hope you discover order was as you thought. I'm calling tomorrow to see what I am quoted. Your post had me exited about reasonable means of getting booze aboard and avoiding either smuggling or paying exorbitant prices for cocktails once aboard! Now discouraged, however, having run across this other thread. Sorry to be the harbinger of potentially bad news. :(

I ordered before in 2006 and I thought the bottles were the same size as I have here at home, 1.75 litres. I do know that they were bigger than a fifth. So, I could be wrong about the size, but even if they are just 1 litre then I'm still OK with that.
Most metal detectors have two settings......1)stainless steel; 2) Other metals. Both settings can be tuned to be more sensitive to one or the other or both depending on what you are trying to detect.

What is also crazy about a metal detector is that you could walk through it with 50 rounds of ammo in your pocket and it not go off. It cannot detect lead and the brass casings are too thin to have sufficient mass.

While going through airport security, my husband kept setting of the metal detecters. He emptied his waist pockets out and he still kept setting off the detecter. He was pulled aside and wanded.
The night before he had put a condom in his cargo shorts pocket in hopes of getting lucky on the balcony:rolleyes: Well obviously it didn't happen but we were shocked when it set off the metal detecter. We were all laughing including the security agents. Especially when my daughter kept yelling "What is it!!" and my husband answered my "rosary beads"

Too funny!! I'm not sure this one can be beat!

Back when I was a smoker, I went through the metal detecters at a Federal Courthouse with a pack of cigarettes in my pocket. The foil in the cigarette pack set it off.
The parts that are different are the parts in red. The policy never used to specify that your allowed bottle had to be brought on in the carry on luggage only.

We always packed 2 bottles of wine in each checked bag and then also carried 2 on giving us 6 bottles for the week. Under the old policy they would have no way of knowing that the 2 bottles in the checked luggage were not the allowed wine (1 per passenger).

Prior to this change any alcohol found in excess would be confiscated and discarded. Now it will be removed and returned.

Why would they make changes if they weren't planning on checking the checked luggage more than they do. Maybe they got a new scanner for Christmas .

Does this mean that they will change their practice? Who knows?

Liquor and Beverage Policy

Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the steakhouse. Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages. All prohibited alcohol, excessive quantities of wine/champagne or non-alcoholic beverages will be removed and stored for safekeeping until the end of the voyage. The retained item(s) will be delivered to your stateroom on the last night of the cruise. Unsealed containers with prohibited liquids will be discarded, as well as any unclaimed items left after the voyage, and no compensation will be given in either case.
Ok I see the difference. Thanks. Wow every time there is a conversation started about alcohol this board really takes off... I guess we all have a lot of time on our hands. :)
So what's the bottom line ????? Can i bring on a 12 pack of beer ???? Can all four of us bring on board a bottle of wine each ???????
thanks
Smuggling beer in your luggage is just that, smuggling, but you can go ahead and give it a try. All passengers 21 and older can bring on a bottle of wine, so not sure if you're talking about adults or your kids too.

Apologies in advance.................

You sure it wasn't a Blue Steel Throbber setting off the detector? Regular "WOOD" shouldn't cause a problem.:rolleyes::D

Whaaa??? Why did they stop with the fruit punch? That stuff was a life-saver for my smuggled Malibu... unless I didn't feel like going all the way up to Lido to refill, then I ended up just drinking it on ice several times. :D

We are taking our 3rd cruise this March, we have taken couple bottles
of spirits in our luggage on each of our last 2 cruises. We are considering
getting rum-runners on our next one, can anyone suggest any place where these containers can be bought.

Thank you!
