mnbruce Posted January 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2010 I figure I need quite a bit of cash this cruise but I don't want to carry too much. Can I get cash against my onboard account, and if so is does Princess charge a fee? Thanks. One more day!
rjack22 Posted January 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Yes, there would be a fee. ATM's have a fee. Getting cash to gamble at the desk in the casino against your cruise card has a fee. But there are a couple of ways to get cash onboard without fees. First way is to pre-purchase Casnino Credits before you sail which can be cashed in at the desk in the casino for no fee. Second way is to set up a slot bank on your cruise card at a slot machine in the casino. This puts the charge on your onboard acccount from a slot machine and then in turn you can cash out without a fee. It is like having two separate accounts on your cruise card, one for gambling and the other for everything else.
caribill Posted January 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2010 You cannot go to the Pursor's desk and ask for cash and have that put on your account. You can follow the suggestions of the previous poster. Also: If you have an American Express card, you are supposed to be able to cash personal checks. If you bring Traveler's checks, the Purser's desk will cash them with no fee. (real traveler's checks, not the ATM card that many places issue insread of the paper checks). If I am not mistaken, the cruise line stopped cashing personal checks some years ago. It didnt' matter if you had an American Express card or not, they just no longer do this. ;) I would definitely NOT count on this as an option to get extra cash onboard.
