Carnival Legend 1/31 - HELP lots of questions!

Belize: Loved the Lamani and river excursion to the Mayan Ruins, get boat trip and got to climb the mayan temple. Saw howler monkies in to trees too.

Cozumel: Loved Tulum Mayan ruins right on the georgous blue ocean and the Xel-Ha. Wished we had more time at Xel-Ha.

Cayman Islands: The turtle farm was neat, you get to hold a small sea turtle and also did Sting Ray City. The many Sting Rays sweeping by your feet kind of freaked me out, but I still kissed one.

PS: Bring a few plastic shopping bags. We used them for dirty clothes. Keep valuables in the room safe. I know in the Bahamas there have been a some tourist robberies in November they had it on the following site. Keep this site www.cruiselawnews.com it has a lot of info that isn't publicly announced.

Hey Mr & Mrs. Donut... here's my input. We just returned from an AWESOME cruise on the Legend a couple weeks ago. LOVE the ship, LOVE the itinerary. And Tampa was a great place, too. We stayed at the Embassy Suites downtown near the pier.

#1 - I HIGHLY recommend that you not go to BG the day of the cruise. Why don't you head to the pier early, get on board early and get the party started? We got there between 10:30 & 11:00, and were onboard before noon. You can enjoy some lunch & cocktails & go exploring the ship, or do some people watching. It's almost like a whole extra day on the ship when you do this.

#2 - For packing list ideas, do a search on here for packing lists... there are a gazillion. Some people take way too much stuff, but I have gotten some great ideas of things I needed by looking thru other's lists. We DO bring a long extension cord and have always needed and used it.

#3 - There's lots of great stuff to do at those ports. Head over to the Ports of Call section here on CC. Here's what we did: Cozumel - Nachi Cocum (all-inclusive beach, our underwater scooter tour was cancelled), GC - Sea Grape Beach, Belize - Cave-tubing with Major Tom, Roatan - Ziplining thru Island Marketing (This was our most favorite excursion by far).

#4 - Can't help you there...

#5 - Lots of people take Ginger pills (grab at Walmart or drug store in the vitamin section). Also, the guest services desk & infirmary on board give seasick meds out for free.

#6 - We've learned to bring more cash than we think we need. And less clothes. Cash for room service tips, casino, other tips in Tampa, on the ship, inports, purchases at ports, etc.

Keep reading on here, do some searches, you'll learn so much. But most of all, don't stress about the small stuff. Have a great cruise, and welcome to the addiction.

What Embassy Suites? Do you have a phone number or a street name. Did it have a shuttle from the airport and a shuttle to the pier?

I think I double posted.

Embassy Suites Tampa - Downtown Convention Center

513 South Florida, Tampa, FL 33602

Tel: 813-769-8300

No shuttles. We took a cab from the airport; I think it was around $25. And a cab to the ship which didn't cost much... it's soooo close you could almost walk it. The area is really nice, we took the Trolley to Channelside, you can also take it to YBor City. Love Embassy Suites... free 2 hour cocktail party and free delicious breakfast.

Does anyone else have suggestions for excursions?

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN

COZUMEL, MEXICO

BELIZE

ISLA ROATAN

We don't plan on drinking alcohol/soft drinks on the ship and will eat mostly at the buffet. I wonder how much we'll end up spending in the casino and on excursions. Is it possible to walk away spending less than $800 total for the excursions for 2 people?

DW and I were on the Legend in December. We had a great time and you will too. Our excursions were

Stingray City and snorkel via Carnival in Grand Cayman

Deluxe sail, snorkel and beach break in Cozumel

Xunantunich ruins in Belize

Rony's private tour in Roatan.

I think we paid less than $600 total for excursions, the ruins tour in belize was the most expensive, but if you are a history buff and like Mayan ruins it is worth it.

One suggestion I would make is eat in the main dining room. You have already paid for it with your ticket and the food is much better than the buffet. Plus, you can make some new friends if you have good tablemates.

Well we make it aboard and today is "fun at sea". I'm posting this live from the Carnival Legend via their (extremely overpriced) internet cafe in the Holmes Library. There are a few books in this "library" but they're locked up :)

Since the internet is pricey and a little slow, what are my chances of booking the Rays, Reef & Rum Point directly with Native when we dock?

Any other excursion suggestions for any of the 4 ports of call would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'll check this thread again later today. We're going outside for some fresh air :)
