Carry on luggage size

First time cruise coming up in August. Can anyone tell me whether there is a size restriction for carry on luggage to the ship. I've just bought some bags with trolley handles - larger than Airline hand luggage - but as we're not flying ,thought we could use them and leave the hard suitcases for the porters.

they have to fit through the scanners which are the same size as the airport ones.

No the scanners are not the airport size. You can carry on much larger luggage if you want to lug it around until your room is ready. I've carried on a 27 inch suitcase (airports size is 19 I think) and have seen some bigger than that other folks have carried on.

When we sailed out of San Diego for our Hawaii Cruise, the ROS was to the left & we were taking our smaller carry ons and wouldn't have wanted to try much larger up those ramps and stairs. We had ramps for a short distance then stairs winding back and forth.

Going right out of the Terminal like san Pedro, probably wouldn't make a differance.
