Best way to get from AMS airport to downtown hotels

What is the best way to get from the AMS airport to downtown Amsterdam hotels (with luggage of course)?:cool:

Shuttle easiest: About 15e PP - delivery straight to hotel

Train: Fast and inexpensive to Central Station - then must get to hotel and deal with luggage on train and bus/tram.

Do you just get in line for the shuttle (and pay upon arrival), or is it something we need to reserve in advance? Are certain ones for certain hotels?

No reservation needed from the airport to hotel.

I'll second the vote for the shuttle; this spring it dropped us off at our hotel door near the Van Gogh Museum.

 

The only issue, perhaps is the appropriate method to pay for it. There is a storefront in the arrivals area where you can buy a ticket and receive vague instructions as to the pick-up area.

 

 

That being said, the driver seemed quite willing to sell tickets on the bus, a policy which required that he go back into the storefront to hand off the money. Seemed oddly inefficient but the price and sevice are great.
