What's a good time to book hotel

What's a good time to book a hotel thru priceline for an end of April cruise. The hotel would be in San Pedro.

Some say early and some say a few weeks before, would you still get the same rate. Any advantage to one over thr other. Also does priceline work in Canada as well.

Our cruise is May 23, and I booked my hotel last week on Priceline. We could not get anything reasonable in San Pedro ($70) so we expanded to Long Beach and got the Westin. Great location.

and we booked our hotel in San Pedro thru Priceline so long ago I can't remember when - early fall?? and got it for $77 per night, Crowne Plaza, 2 nights late March

That's a great price. I've been bidding and bidding (up to $92 so far) for San Pedro 3.5 stars and so far, nothing. The Crowne is where we want to stay too!

My bid for late April hotel in San Pedro is up to $102 and still rejected.
