CroneWynd Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Hi. We're off on a cruise in March, and we're talking about how we're going to be able to bring along our favorite selection of locally produced wines. Since we are flying, we can't very well pack our wine bag and just carry it aboard. Has anyone shipped a case of wine to the ship? Has it arrived, maybe already in your cabin when you get there? We've also been talking about checking the case of wine as luggage on the plane, but have some reservations about that. I'll also be checking with the airline about that. Thanks for sharing your personal experiences on this.
fann1sh Posted January 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2010 CroneWynd - where would you be shipping from? Your location isn't beside your name. As for the other end - you can't actually send it to the ship (security). You'd have to send it to yourself in San Diego, and schlep it to the ship. We have custom made wine bottled for us, but gave up on the idea of trying to do this for Detroit to Fort Lauderdale. But, then, there's that handy Total Wine store in Fort Lauderdale. TMWeddle Posted January 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2010 My wife's medical supplies are delivered to the ship and brought to our cabin. Seems like other shipments could be handled a similar way.
zoncom Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Sadly, I would not trust the staff to deliver it. Too tempting. Alcohol in suitcases has gone missing also.
garydm Posted January 31, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2010 You have a couple of options at least: 1. UPS it to yourself at your hotel in San Diego. Alert the hotel regarding the arrival and ask them to hold it for you. 2. Go to The Wine Bank, World Market, or Ralph's and buy most anything you want when you get to San Diego. We have often brought a case on board in San Diego and always just checked it at the pier along with our other bags and it has always arrived intact in the cabin by 5 pm. CroneWynd Posted January 31, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to say where from... We will be flying from Seattle, to San Diego. I'm checking with the airline about checking a case of wine as baggage... And, we are flying same day. No hotel.
