Coral Gables area

We are staying at the Miami Airport Marriott in March. I was doing some research and it seems that Coral Gables is only 3 miles away. Is it a safe area? We need to go to a wine store and a nice place for dinner that won't cost us $50 round trip as downtown Miami might. Any suggestions for dinner?

The Gables is fantastic! TONS of great restaurants, a couple of wine/bars, live theater, etc....

There are some great wine stores downtown Gables, also...

It's a very upscale part of Miami...

Try Gaetano's Ristorante in the Hotel St. Michel at 162 Alcazar Avenue. In fact, ditch being near the airport and stay at the St. Michel. Coral Gables is a much nicer area than either the airport or downtown Miami.

Coral Gables is gorgeous and is a very upscale ritzy Miami neighborhood.

 

Why on earth would you want to go downtown?

You are also very close to "Calle Ocho" the historical Cuban part of Miami. Go to Versailles for Cuban food!

Check out Giralda Ave in the Gables....Lots of really good restaurants up and down that street...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went through Priceline for my hotel that is why we are at the airport. Can't wait to have a Cuban sandwich!
