Mayan Ruins & Beach time

Ditto with CowPrincess's questions.

None of the ruins are near by and you'll have limited time to enjoy the beach at Majahual, if you do the ruins. You may find an option with the beach facilities inside the port area or on the road out of Costa Maya before the turn to Majahual. Remember, the taxis don't go into the port area. The tour will most likely drop you off back inside the port area. You have to leave the port area and walk about a 1/4 mile down to the taxi stand. Coming back you'll be let out at the gate and have to walk into the shops area then down the pier, so you'll need to leave yourself enough time to do this, especially if you want to return to the ship and grab your beach stuff before heading out.

My husband wants to go to the ruins, I want to go to the beach. Can we do both? :( What agency would you recommend?

If you're talking about Chacchoben, and you have at least 6 hours, you should be okay. The ruins are maybe 40-45 min. from pier. Tour is maybe 4 hours total. Ask the driver to drop you off at the beach on return (Majahual). You probably would have time enough for lunch and hanging out. If you have 7-8 hours in port that's plenty. Taxis run between town and port, $3 or so. Takes about 1/2 hour to walk, it's hot and dull.
