Close to POM is usually not cheap. Depending upon when you are travelling you may get lucky on Priceline or hotwire - look for 3 and 4 star properties downtown. If you are arriving late and just want a clean bed before getting on your cruise the next day, and you are not interested in nightlife, etc., then look for hotels out near the MIA airport. If you are driving to Miami be aware that all downtown Miami hotels will charge $20-30/day for parking.

Give us some more information (dates, price range, number in your party, desires and interests, etc.) and the members contributing on this board will try to help you. Good luck!:)

January can be expensive. Jan2011 is way too early for Priceline. Look at hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA - free airport shuttles, and there is a shopping mall across the street from the Hampton Inn with Grocery, drug and liquor stores;), as well as several dining options (Cuban, Italian, and Chinese, plus Starbucks and BK). There are several hotels in this area that may work for you - good luck!:)
