What to do after the cruise, Port Canaveral

Go Big Red

Recommended Posts

We sail the Dream on the 13th.

I was reviewing all my documents last night.

Our flight coming home doesn't leave until 3:30.

Is there anything anybody would recomend doing?

I've even considered just checking into a hotel to have

a pool and a clean bathroom!

I'm gonna guess that we will be off the ship by 9:00, I think

our transportation is set up for 9:30. This gets us to Orlando

by 10:30.

I would definitely rent a car, then find something to do for a few hours. There is a zoo between Cape Canaveral and Orlando that is such a nice zoo. Not sure if you have any kids, but myself and my boyfriend don't and even we loved it! It's called Brevard Zoo http://www.brevardzoo.org/

They have a petting zoo area, and then different areas for different continents ie. Asia, Africa, etc. It was a great way to spend a few hours.

If you're not interested in a zoo do some searches on google and find something that interests you. You can definitely find something to occupy your time in/around Orlando/Cape Canaveral.

Thanks for the replies.

The main problem is all our luggage. We have 6 adults and 3 kids.

I am really thinking a hotel close to the airport. But can you check

in early?? Like 10:30? Figure one room split 6 ways isn't to expensive.

That way we can dump the luggage and at least go out to lunch.

I do not think you have enough time to justify spending a lot of money at one of the theme parks.

Delay your trip to Orlando and go to the space center is the only thing that comes to mind.

Even the space center costs money to go there and look around.

Personally, I wouldnt plan anything on that short timeframe and if your flight leaves at 330, their may be a lot of traffic getting to the airport Also, dont you have to be at the airport, what is it now an hour before takeoff? Again, just my opinion...I just think thats cutting it short to be planning a sidetrip

I re-read your post and a few things came to mind that dont take a while...there are some museums in orlando or even the ripleys museum there is also an upside down museum (dont know the name of it) but that one is cool, stuff like that, that doesnt take up an entire day :)

the hotel in the airport does day room rates . . .

but really you've probably got less than 4 hours to play with and if you take travel time to go anywhere off that . . .

{10:30 arrive at MCO and for a 3:30 flight you should be in MCO nlt 2:30 . . .}
