Warnemunde to Rostock and back???

You may also find when you arrive in the port of Rostock that your cruise ship is offering a free shuttle into the town of Rostock. We were on the HAL Eurodam a few years ago and they offered a free ferry to Warnemuende and a free bus to the city center of Rostock. (I had actually printed up all the pertinent public bus information and ended up not needing it.)

Thanks for the info!!!!!:)

Greetings from Warnemünde. I am just on NORWEGIAN GETAWAY and we visited today Rostock.

So here is the actual network map

http://www.verkehrsverbund-warnow.de/files/downloads/VVW-Netzplan_Rostock.pdf

The commuter train service is withdrawn.

So there is a bus in the near from the Ferry Terminal (Seehafen Fähre).

Bus 49 would take you to the Western Edge of the Historic City Center (Kröpeliner Tor):

Schedule from the Ferry Terminal to the City Center:

http://www.rsag-online.de/de/fahrplan/download/1212499

and back from the City Center to Ferry Terminal:

http://www.rsag-online.de/de/fahrplan/download/1212514

BUT bus runs during weekdays only every 60 Minutes and weekends only ever 120 minutes.

More on connecting transfer to tram via Dierkower Kreuz (frequent services to the City Center):

So Bus 19 need to connect to Trams 1, 2, 3, 4 to the City Center.

Bus 19 schedule to connecting point from the Ferry Terminal:

http://www.rsag-online.de/de/fahrplan/download/1207575

And back from Bus 19 from Dierkower Kreuz (connected by tram from City Center) back to your ship:

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your help!!!:)

ote=Travelanni;53807642]Hi, in addition to the services described in the previous post there is a bus service connecting with the train which runs between Rostock and Warnemuende. For details please see my web site. There is a page especially for those docking at piers LP41/42 in the commercial port.

Happy cruising :)

Hi, thanks for the info - do you know how long the bus takes from Warnemunde to Rostock?? Thanks in advance

Just for clarification:

Rostock Seaport?

Rostock Downtown?

Rostock Central Station?

There is no direct bus from any of those place.

Best is to take the commuter train (about 20 minutes) or the boat.

But train station is at the edge of city center and need to be connected by tram.

Seaport to Warnemünde need to connect at Lütten Klein Commuter Station to connect from bus to commuter train. In total about 40 minutes.

Thank you for the information, but since this is an old post I would just like to verify some information. Boat to Rostock is available at pier very close to cruise pier? Is the dock in Rostock close to the town area, or do we need to take a bus, tram or some sort of shuttle to the area for shops, restaurants etc? Approx 40 minute boat ride? Thanks in advance.

Where are you docking Warnemünde or Rostock Seaport.

Warnemünde is a neighbourhood of Rostock. Like Brooklyn or Manhattan are part of New York City.

If you dock in Warnemünde:

REGAL PRINCESS is just pushing to the pier and would stop around the corner at the P8 pier.

The boat to/from Rostock just leave 50 yards right of the tall ship to the right.

It is a ten minutes walk from the pier in Rostock /boat to Warnemünde / NOT cruise ships docking in Rostock Sea Port) to the shopping street and historical buildings. You are in the extended city center.

We went to Rostock on a Sunday and everything except for some restaurants were closed. When we got back to Warnemunde we found most everything was open. Although, the old architecture in Rostock was well worth the visit.

We took the boat to Rostock in early August. The return fair was 18 Euros and it took about an hour each way. That is a very good accurate picture showing the “Boat to Rostock”.
