We are going on the Ruby Princess July 28th, starting in Venice. We will be going 1 day early and the ship will be there overnight. Therefore, we will have 2 1/2 days in Venice. Does anyone know if there is an unlimited vaporetto pass that we can buy? We want to go to Lido and other islands. We will also be on the ship the first night of the cruise, so we will have to get from the cruise to St.Marks Square, quite a few times, or from the cruise to other locations. Any advice? We also need hotel suggestions for 1 night. Reasonably priced and air conditioned. Thanks !

go to http://www.europeforvisitors.com/venice for all the info you need about transportation. Go to http://www.veniceconnected.com for combo water bus passes and museum passes at a discount. we purchased the 72 hr vaporetto pass and the museum plus pass for seniors. Highly satisfied with both and avoids lines at the Doge's palace. however if you purchase a tour, the museums will be included. By the time you are there, you will be able to get from the cruise terminal to the vaporetto dock at Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma on the new tram for about 1 euro per trip. hotels are expensive. If you can pay 200 euros there are some very highly rated hotels/B&Bs on trip advisor. Just checked your dates. 3 day vaporetto pass for venice, the Lido and Murano Burano and Torcello plus senior rate for all civic museums is 38 euro pp We enjoyed Torcello and skipped the glass factories.

I was in venice last august and bought a 3 day vaporetto pass through venice connected. Didn't use it that much in the end as we were staying a 10 minute walk from Piazza san marco and ended up exploring most of the city on foot. We did go to Murano one morning and then on to the Lido in the afternoon, so a one day pass (with hindsight) would have been better.

Our hotel (gabriellu sandwerth) was amazing and in a great location (14th century building with a rooftop sun terrace and the restaurant in a garden courtyard) but certainly not reasonably priced by any means
