  1. What I find so interesting is that the authorities in FP. seem to be ahead of those here. There are clear instructions to local residents what they should do if unwell. Essentially, stay home and someone from the health service will come to you. How civilized!
  2. Fdl2020. There is no need to be confused. What do you need to do? If you want to charge several USB devices at the same time (phones,iPads, cameras, kindles ), buy the Anker unit.
  3. The Anker unit is safe and acceptable. The surge protection that it may or may not have has nothing to do with the surge suppression built into some power strips https://www.cruisehabit.com/power-strips-why-theyre-not-allowed-ships-and-how-safely-gain-some-extra-outlets
  4. First Nations silver. Earrings, pins , bracelets . Either in Vancouver or Alaska.
  5. Get theAnker unit. Works great. Charge 4 devices at once. It won’t be confiscated
  6. There are several competing HoHO operations. The one we picked was horrible. Largely due to the metro construction downtown leading to a large traffic snafu. Unfortunately I can’t remember which It was. Do your research and consider a private tour.
  7. in that case, Boston to Montreal via Concord New Hampshire, and Magog Quebec. There are many country inns to stay at along the way. Allow at least 1 full day in Montreal concentrating on the Old City and area below the mountain. Return to Boston by way of Burlington Vermont or through the Lake Champlain islands. Alternatively via upstate New York and western Massachusetts. It’s all delightful
  8. Wait until you are on the ship before you decide. I think they will open earlier on some port intensive days
  9. I presume your cruise ends in Boston. To try and see New England in 3-4 days would be the same as seeing all of Oregon in the same period. A lot depends on whether your car rental is one way or not . If not you will spend most of your time driving on interstate highways.Pick one of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. When We were younger we drove Montreal to Boston about 40 times. It’s a long drive. I like the idea of Northeast along the coast to Kennebunk for the coast or Northwest to Woodstock and beyond for the green mountains. Problem is you probably want to return to Boston for your flight home. Can you stretch your road trip to 6-7 days?
  10. Read them all. They make you think you know Venice like a native.
  11. Try the hotel website. I just looked and didn’t see a 3 night minimum. We thought Ca’Angeli was a ‘hidden gem’
  12. Look at Ca’Angeli. Centrally located in SAN Polo on the grand canal. One street over from the home of Commisario Brunetti. A short walk to Rialto and St. Marks. Has a water taxi stop steps away. Water taxi is the fun way to travel in Venice. If you share, the cost is reasonable. ps your font is difficult to read.
  13. Yes you can go directly to the tour company and book. You might be able to specify the number of people in your group. The cost is inversely proportional to the size of the group. That said, the fewer the better. When you book directly, chances are all the others will be from your ship.
  14. You absolutely do not need a jacket or sport coat on Oceania
  15. There should be no need for rubles. I would pay with a credit card. Take a few US$ or €s for tips. The only time you might need a rumble coin is for the toilets. In that case you could ask your guide to front you a ruble or two.
  16. There is one but the process is quite lax compared to US airports. There won’t be a problem
  17. A different point of view. You are flying to Europe, taking a Med cruise and a Trans Atlantic cruise and thinking of spending 1 or 2 days in Venice. It’s not worth the extra trouble for 1 day and maybe not for 2. How many times are you going to get a chance to be in Venice? It’s truly unique! If you decide to go to Venice, go for 3 days minimum. You need 1 day to recover from jet lag. I would take a water taxi to my hotel . It’s well worth the incremental cost. Especially after a long overnight flight when you will be tired I would not stay in Mestre. You miss half the fun staying out in the hinterland. Read Donna Leon or City of Falling Angels before you decide. All told, figure on an extra $1000 to add Venice to your itinerary.
  18. Normally Frihamnen. 10 mins taxi from downtown. First Hotel Friesen is in a perfect location
  19. First Hotel Reisen is ideally located in the old town Gamla Stan. On the waterfront. Less expensive than the Grand. Lots of decent restaurants within easy walking distance. Close to
  20. Sailed PH and veranda on Nautical and veranda on Marina. We spend so little time in our cabin except to sleep it made no difference. We didn’t use the butler service in PH class
  21. Pretty luxurious as far as I’m concerned
  22. We were sorely disappointed with the Vasa museum. Considered it a waste of time. Gamma Stan on the other hand is worth the visit. The Nobel museum was far more interesting than the Vasa
