"Carry on" luggage

What is the policy for carrying on luggage onto the ship? Would it be the same as on an airplane? Although from past cruises I don't remember anyone walking around with those rollaboard suitcases until the staterooms opened.

So should I plan to hand over ALL of my bags at the pier, or what will I be able to take onboard myself?

You can take as many or as few carry-ons aboard the Oasis (or other cruise ships for that matter). The only caveate is that they must fit through the normal screening x-ray machines that you see at the airport. It if won't fit... you have to check it. DW and I usually have one carry-on each with our essentials (just in case our regular luggage is delayed), and yes, we board about 11:30 AM and lug those around until we can get into the cabins at 1:00 PM. Not to bad though... remember you are on a CRUISE! :D:D

I would never check all of my luggage. You can never know what may happen to your bags after you hand them off to the porters. I have seen bags fall in the water, get left at the pier and I have heard of them being sent to the wrong cabin and never being seen again. You have thousands of people on your ship and not all of them are honest like you. Don't set yourself up for a late bag arriving or no bag at all. Have a great cruise and remember never check anything that you can't replace or live without (AKA meds, jewlery, camras, money ect.) or you may be sorry.
