Jaymee287 Posted February 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2010 What do you do with your things that you wish to keep with you while your on the deck at the pool or laying out for some sun? Do you keep them in a small beach bag type thing? I have never cruised before so suggestions are greatly appreciated!
pinkbarbie Posted February 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2010 I carry a small beach bag on deck and a large beach bag to beaches in port. Do whatever makes you comfy. But I carry sunscreen, a book, and a bottle of water, plus an ipod or iphone., and anything I pick up from the shops.

Thanks for the reply!
dvan68 Posted February 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2010 My carryon tote for the plane becomes my beach tote as well. It fits the 2 Carnival towels, sunscreen, book, bottle of water, extra t shirt, etc......
Cruisin Suzin Posted February 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2010 I had two beach bags as well a small for on the ship and larger for the beach...even a small little purse that would just tuck under my arm for the casino. I think I asked this same question on my first cruise...

I thought cell phones would not work on the boats?
kr8z Posted February 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 12, 2010 You can use your iphone on a cruise? I thought cell phones would not work on the boats? You can, but you pay $2.50 a minute (there's a cell tower on each ship) while at see. I checked AT&T's site to see what the cost would be for me to use the internet. I forget what it was, but it is hella expensive. I'd suggest putting your iphone on airplane mode. I enable the wifi while in ports. I'm always able to pick up free wifi somewhere. Jaymee287 Posted February 12, 2010 Author #13 Share Posted February 12, 2010 Get a lanyard for your room key - you'll thank me. I've heard that MANY times lol and I plan too? Do they ever run out of these on the ship? Should we bring our own.....
ladycaveat Posted February 12, 2010 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2010 When on the beach in Ports, I wear a little black waterproof thingy around my neck. It holds my credit card, a little money and a copy of my passport. Everything else from suntan lotion, book, bottled water, etc. is kept in my beach bag. cb at sea Posted February 12, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2010 Whatever you'd carry to a hotel pool for the day, take to the pool on the ship! Same if you go to a beach! A beach bag/ tote is what you need.
kris12 Posted February 12, 2010 #19 Share Posted February 12, 2010 I carrry a cloth drawstring backpack (folds easily in suitcase) and for ports we take a rolling backpack (we use this as a carryon).Instead of the over the neck lanyard we use the retractable lanyards from office supply store. MrsZee Posted February 12, 2010 #21 Share Posted February 12, 2010 About the lanyard, the casino one is not what you think. It is a plastic chain that clips to you and to your card, it is extremely hard to wear around your neck, although possible. I recommend getting one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Custom-Accessories-44447-Retractable-Chain/dp/B000BQULWK

A friend of mine wears hers like that...as opposed to around the neck.

Thanks for the reply! When DH and I got married on the Glory we did gift "baskets" for each of our guests but used beach totes to put everything in instead of baskets. Everyone really liked them because they were so useful.

zqvol Posted February 12, 2010 #25 Share Posted February 12, 2010 You can use your iphone on a cruise? I thought cell phones would not work on the boats? You can use it as an MP3 player, they have games on them, lots of uses besides as a phone. BTW to stay on topic, OP, consider the pool deck just like the pool at home or at the beach, though IMO things are a bit safer. I feel like you can safely leave your things on your chair while you are in the pool, or when you run to the bar or restroom.
