umtigerfan1 Posted February 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2010 We will be on the Triumph in May, would like to visit the Punta Sur lighthouse and do some downtown shopping and lunch. What would be the best way to accomplish this, taxi, tour, driver, etc??

Rare crewsweeper Posted February 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Taxi fare from the piers to Punta Sur is around $30 one way. Same back up to San Miguel from Punta Sur. Then it's around $7 from San Miguel back to the port. That's for 2 people. More for additional passengers. A van cab may cost you the price of 2 taxis plus additioanl $. You can see if Gerry is available. cozumeltaxi@hotmail.com He'll charge $95 for 3 hours minimum, $25 /hour after that; for the car not pp. His station wagon fits 4 people. He has access to a van that hold 7-8 comfortably and is a bit more. But he'll take you around where ever you want to go and knows everyone and best spots for shopping. If you have more than 2 people, you may find you'll spend more doing taxi's to Punta Sur and back to San Miguel and San Miguel to the pier. Otherwise, you can rent a car for the day. Only one road from pier to Punta Sur and same road back to town. So long as you're paying attention, you should have no problems. Rental agencies are on the piers. Alamo and Avis have offices there. As well as others. http://www.islacozumel.net/rentals/
