ro80 Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2010 So, out of these ports of call - Cozumel, Roatan, Grand Cayman and Beliz - if you were going to spend the day on the beach with other things to also do while you were there - which beaches would you go to and why??? Looking to relax on a beautiful beach and have fun at the same time.....:)
Water_Baby Posted February 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2010 My top Caribbean beach picks: BVI, Peter Island (great private little tropical island, white sand beach...paradise) Roatan, West Bay (sugar sand beach; not overdeveloped like Hawaii) BVI, Cane Garden Bay
bruce-r Posted February 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2010 It would depend on what other activities were available on each island that I'd rather to than a beach day. Cozumel has some nice beach clubs, a couple all inclusive, that would be a nice way to spend the day (if you don't scuba dive) Belize would be my last choice for a beach day. I'd either do cave tubing or visit Mayan ruins there.
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2010 So, out of these ports of call - Cozumel, Roatan, Grand Cayman and Beliz - if you were going to spend the day on the beach with other things to also do while you were there - which beaches would you go to and why??? Looking to relax on a beautiful beach and have fun at the same time.....:) GC's 7 Mile Beach is pretty decent if you're not booking an excursion like swim with the stingrays or jeep tour. There are better beaches on th e island but 7 mile is veryaccessible. Cozumel too, as Bruce R points out, has very nice beaches. If you want a good uncrowded all inclusive Nacho Chocum is probably your best bet. The Cozumel board has tons of info on beaches. Roatan's West End /West Bay are great with lots of differnt places to go to. You'll be up in Mahgony Bay so you'll have to grab a cab to get here. Carnival's Tabayana beach excursion goes to the same area. Up at MBCC, there is a small beach area rigth next to the pier where you dock. It's okay if you don't feel likefinding a cab. Also a zip line next to it wich is agreat thing to do on Roatan. As Bruce R says, Belize is a port for cave tubing or mayan ruins excursions. There aren't any nearby beaches and th ebeaches on the cayes and islands aren't the developed beaches like other ports of call.
