the_dylaness Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2010 We're going in a few weeks to Chichen Itza while in Progreso on our cruise. Could anyone suggest a novel that is set here? My online searches have been less than helpful. I'd love to read a book that will get me "in the mood"!
hdawson Posted February 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Check Amazon. I found one for Chichen Itza and one for Uxmal.
the_dylaness Posted February 16, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Thanks for the suggestion-- I'd been mostly googling and trying to look at C.I. tourism sites and book review pages. if anyone's interested, the book I located was called "Call of the Panther" by Joan Wrenn. timtamx2749 Posted March 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2010 Not fiction, but Richard Halliburton's New Worlds to Conquer includes a description of his visit there in the 1920's. He actually jumped into the sacrificial well -- TWICE!
Dive Master Posted March 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2010 Thanks for the suggestion-- I'd been mostly googling and trying to look at C.I. tourism sites and book review pages. if anyone's interested, the book I located was called "Call of the Panther" by Joan Wrenn. If I was to write a book about our visit in February it would be titled "Call of the DOLLAR". The last time I was pestured that much by vendors was in Jamaica twenty years ago---have not returned there siince. It is such a shame as Chitzen Itza could be very special if the Mexican governement would get the vendors under control. My wife was so disappointed in our tour.
