Schonbrunn palace vienna

We are staying a few days in Vienna before our Avalone crusie ,Vienna to Amasterdam.

We are staying in the Intercontiental Hotel by the Stadtpark. Can Anyone tell me how far is it to The Schonbrunn Palace?Is it a short Taxi ride or will we be better off taking a tour from the hotel.

Don't bother with the Hotel Tour (expensive), or even with the taxi . Just catch the easy to use Vienna Metro line 4 from Karlplatz to Schonbrunn around a 15 minute trip. The Palace and surrounding Grounds/Gardens are huge, lots of walking . Wear your flat comfy shoes and allow 1/2 day minimum.

Be sure to view the Andre Rieu DVD - Andre Rieu at Schonnbrun before you go to get real feel for the size and grandeur of the place . A must see in Vienna.

It is a really beautiful 20 minute, or less, walk!:)
