Stay in Fort Lauderdale or Miami

We have changed our plans and have to fly in 1 day early because of the storm. We are leaving out of Port of Miami. Our flight arrives in Fort Lauderdale at 9:30AM. Should we stay in Fort Lauderdale or Miami for that day?

Depends upon what you want. If you'd like to spend a day at the beach then choose either Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach. Hotels in Fort Lauderdale are generally cheaper than Miami and Miami Beach, although some get good last minute deals through priceline in downtown Miami. Not much in downtown Miami, although some like Bayside Market. A shuttle (SAS or others) can get you to Miami for about $15-17 per person; a taxi will run $85-100:eek: Good luck!:)

Not sure what we want to do. It's all last minute. Just have to get out of here before storm. We already booked with SAS to take us to pier from flight on Friday, so have to change that too. Bayside Market is a mall?

Bayside Market is an outdoor mall, similar to the ones found in downtown Baltimore, Norfolk VA and other cities - you can find a store and dining list at their web site: http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/

Besides very few local places, there are a number of big chains (Hard Rock, Bubb Gump, Chilies, Hooters, etc.) for dining. There is also a small marina there with an option to take a boat tour of the "Homes of the Stars" and such. Good luck!:)
