Doolins Irish Pub...Questions

Has anyone been to this Pub?

Neighborhood...safe for walking? Could we walk to this pub from the Pan Pacific Hotel?

Is there any "close" hotels to Doolins Irish Pub?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and info with us.

Pat :)

It's about 10 blocks away in a busy part of town (Nelson & Granville). Yes there are lots of hotels close to there, look for hotels in the Entertainment district; the Comfort Inn is next door.

Doolans pub is kind of neat but if I was staying at the Pan Pacific I wouldn't bother walking to it nor would I want to trade the Pan for an entertainment district hotel....nothing would compare. If you are going to be at the Pan then you may want to try Steamworks Trans-Continental less than 2 blocks east of the hotel. link

I've been to Doolins a couple of times. Once with family before a hockey game, the other was a late night drinking fest in college. Both times it was good. At night it gets pretty busy. The service wasn't that great, but lots of good drinks and a laid back atmosphere. No need for mini skirts and high heels here like the night clubs along Granville.

If you're specifically looking for an Irish pub/bar I highly suggest the Blarney Stone in Gas Town. A ridiculous good time is always had! The line can get pretty long on the weekends. It has an Irish band playing most of the night. Between sets they play top 40-ish music. The dance floor is always packed. There's lots of seating and the upstairs bar has great specials on shots. Just beware of the long lines to get in Fri and Sat nights.
