beach and shopping

Hi

Will be in St Thomas for the day, we have been before but just had a wander round the shops.

Thinking of spending the morning at the shops hopefully including avisit to blackbeards castle.

Then in the afternoon heading by taxi to either Morningstar or Emerald beach.

Would be looking for chairs changing facilities and somewhere for a drink.

Will have from 8.00am till 5.00pm. Would all this be feasable.?

Any insight gratefully received. Prices also helpfull.

If you take a cab from Havensight to town, it's about $4 per person one way. From Crown Bay, it's about $5 pp ow. Cab from town to Emerald should be another $5 or $6, and to Magen's either $8 or $9.

You might want to do your itinerary in reverse, though. The beaches should be less crowded, and the shops might be more willing to negotiate a discount later in the afternoon. However, you're under more pressure to buy since you won't have time to think about it and come back.

Thanks for your suggestions, very helpful, it looks like St Thomas is now sorted.

You should go straight from the beach to Blackbeard's Castle, because it closes earlier than the shops. You have to pay the $12 (last time I went, anyway) fee per person to tour the restored buildings, but I think you'll enjoy it. The tour ends at Hotel 1829, and from there it's a few steps down the hill to Main Street shopping.

Sounds like you'll have a great stay in St Thomas!
