We'll be in our first balcony on Liberty in October, so I can't give you great advice specific to the balcony category ... but we've been on Carnival in inside cabins and oceanview and never been dis-satisfied with the rooms. You'll find them smaller than the average hotel room, but still plenty big enough for 2 or 3 people to share comfortably. We are sharing our balcony cabin with 2 of our kids in October and I'm a little leery, but we don't spend that much time IN the cabin, and with the balcony space, I think we'll be fine.

If you're on Liberty, you'll need to make sure you try Harry's at least once. We enjoy the dining room ... haven't had a bad experience yet with the food. If you don't like something, send it back. They'll be happy to bring you something else. The pizza and deli are good and the sushi is fabulous (if limited). I don't think you'll be disappointed there, either.

The movies on the big screen on the lido deck are fun for the kids; they've watched a couple (with their aunt), but I have never really had the desire to do that. There's enough other stuff going on that I just didn't want to miss ... but I know that they rotate the titles a few times throughout the sailing and that they are fairly current movies. They also have a rotation of movies showing in the cabins.

I don't know if this answered your questions to the degree that you wanted them answered, but they were kind of general. If you have something more specific, I will attempt an answer. Just realize that my answers may be a little out of date as I haven't been back on board Liberty since 2007.

Hello! Just got off the Liberty 12 hours ago!! :( LOVED IT!!!!! There is so much to do, we never even watched a movie on the big screen. Only show we saw was the Village Idiots and we and our 14 yr old thought they were hilarious!!

When we embarked, we headed right up to the Fish N Chips which is in Emile's but upstairs. It was pretty empty because people usually stop at the first place they see food.

Loved Kyle, the asst. cruise director. Butch was good but a little long winded.

Very entertaining thought. You can't hear the announcements when in your room so we tried to open the door quickly when we heard the 3 dings (thought we were students at Rydell High, hehehe).

We had an aft wrap balcony on Upper Deck so our balcony was AWESOME!!!! our friends had a normal balcony so they spent most of their time on ours.

Don't know where your headed but we did the Eastern.

If you are, you have to go on the St Johns Catamaran trip. It was a blast!!! Just the ride to and from the catamaran was worth it to me. They drive on the other side of the road. I kid you not....it was like a roller coaster ride. Hills and curvy roads. The catamaran was great too. We were on the Adventurer and there was also the Adveturess (which was piloted by Fabio!! looked just like him!!) After an afternoon of rum punches we ended up on the front of the bus back. I laughed so hard on the way back I was crying. Everyone was yelling cuz the roads are so crazy!! It was a blast!!

We did Margaritaville at Grand Turk. I could spend the whole day there but it was hazy and started to rain. So we got out of the pool (doesn't make any sense, I know) and headed back to the ship.

I would do the Liberty again in a heartbeat!! Loved the ship. We bought 2 FCC and have another cruise already booked for next Feb on the Miracle.

Any other questions? let me know. OH and you have to get a room at the Hilton Downtown. The ships come in and turn around right in front of your room. We had a corner room with a port view!!! Awesome view.

I can't believe it's over and I'm home!!!:(:(:(

We had a wonderful time!! The weather was very odd. It was cool at night.

Warm at Half Moon Cay............rent a cabana!!! We had 10. It was right by the bathrooms and food. They don't really say where the bbq is. We headed towards the lower #'s cabanas only to find out it was pretty much right behind our cabana.

St Thomas and San Juan were very hot and very humid!!

And Grand Turk was hazy all day which was fine, needed a break from the sun after the previous days. But then started to drizzle and then rained. It was pretty chilly after that. The last day at sea we couldn't even lay out. It was so windy and cold (66 degrees) we ended up on our aft wrap with friends, we had sun!! and not a lot of wind. Played cribbage on our deck all day till it was dinner time.

So I'd bring a light sweater and a heavier one. Maybe sweatshirt and pants.

Regardless, you will have an awesome time.

Tami

Thanks for all the input. I guess the only other question I have would be to compare the ship itself to Crown Princess or HA Veendaam..Thanks in advance for any help...Also we r headed to grand cayman, Ocho Rios and Cozumel...Where to snorkel, where to Scuba.

We had Cabana #10, too ... perfect location! I highly recommend it. It was so nice to have a place to get out of the sun if we wanted to and to have the fruit and drinks available. We were just talking about HMC and I asked my hubby (who is notoriously cheap) what he thought about the cabana and he said we should definitely do it again ... and he yelled at me for booking it last time ... so if he thought it was worth the money, that says a lot. If you do decide to rent a cabana, do it on the first day. They can book up pretty fast. There are maps out there online, do a thread search, that show you where the cabanas are located on the island. We liked #10 because it was close to the food and restrooms, but far enough down the beach that it was a little bit of a walk ... so we didn't have a super crowded beach in front of us. But it was close enough that you didn't get tired walking to the bar or the water toys.

Ooooo ... I'm getting antsy and have 7 months to go before I cruise!

oops ... i meant reserve it on the day you board the ship ... and I'd suggest doing it early. You probably figured that out, but just in case any newbies were reading this I didn't want to leave them confuzzled.

Oh, and snorkel Coz and scuba Grand Cayman would be my recommendation. GC is gorgeous ... unless you want to do the rays ... there is some good scuba off Coz too.

We are booked in an aft wrap on the upper deck in September. What room number are you in? Can you please post pics of your room, the balcony and the view if you have them?

I hope you write a review

Thanks in advance

Bon Voyage

We had 6483. It was very nice, and very warm. We did Eastern and it was nicer on the way home, not so hot. The last day at sea it was a life saver. It was so windy and 66 degrees, we tried laying out on deck 10 but couldn't. I actually had goose bumps!! We all migrated to our deck where we hung out the whole day.

Plus there were two sides for our view! In St Thomas we had view of pier but San Juan and Grand Turk the piers were on the other side. Our friends had a normal balcony (6335) and said it was very windy all the time. They were down in our room most of the time which was great!! Thats why we booked it..................for the balcony!!!

The room was nice, our only issue was the bathroom door didn't close tightly unless you slammed it. I woke up one night 4-5 times because the boat was rocking and it was opening and closing. It even came open from being closed tightly:D:eek: But room was awesome and so was steward. Everytime we went somewhere he was right outside to greet us and converse.

We were lucky enough to get table 339 in the silver dining room. Aft view!!

I have read on CC a lot that being in the back you have to walk a lot to get everywhere. I disagree. The only time we had to walk was to get off the ship at the ports and even then we only had to walk to the front end of the big pool and get on the elevators. I didn't think that was bad at all. Most of the time we ended up in Emile's and our dining room was in the back, too.

I did gain 5 lbs:eek: but seriously with all I ate, I think that is pretty good!!

All you have to do is walk down the hall way (maybe 6 rooms) to the elevators go up to 9 and the aft pool, pizza place, coffee, juice and Emile's is all right there!! So regardless of which aft wrap you have, the same will apply. I thought the locations was great. No hallway noise either.

Husband is downloading pictures now as I'm typing this, so hang in there!!

Oh one more thing. Bring some sort of music with you to listen to on the balcony. More than once we mentioned it would be nice if we had something to listen to. You know, like and Ipod with speakers or something like that. We tried to turn up the TV and turn it towards the outside, but it didn't go loud enough and we didn't want to upset the neighbors!!

Have fun!

We were on Liberty 2/13-2/20- same itinerary. We had cabin 7434 - "L-shaped" cabin right next to the aft wrap. Cabin was smaller than a regular balcony cabin - no sofa bed - but balcony was much larger, which is what we wanted. Liberty is a great ship - in wonderful shape, great crew. Food was fine in dining room and buffet. In Jamaica we did the zip line/river tubing - great fun. In GC many water excursions were cancelled, as water was too rough to tender on regular side of island - had to go to other side- couldn't drop anchor cause of coral reefs. All had to be bussed to other side of island. Our parasailing was cancelled - just went to island and hung out for a bit. In Coz went to Paradise Beach - had a great time. Our weather the whole cruise wasn't great - very cool and cloudy, but we managed. Dining rooms were on the chilly side - bring a light sweater/jacket. Same with show room. We didnt mind Butch (the cd) Piano Bar (Brad) was fun, but horribly smokey, as was casino. Shows were fine. Movies on Lido (though we didn't watch any) were: Star Trek, Taking of Pelham,Up, The Proposal, State of Play,Land of the Lost, Angels and Demons, plus some concerts. (earth wind and fire, michael jackson this is it , james brown, elo, miley cyrus, etc.) I would go on Liberty (for my 3rd time) in a second!

The first few pictures are in our room at the Hilton Downtown. I was a little upset when we were put on the 9th floor, everyone else we were with were higher up, but when we opened our door and saw it was a suite and a corner room, it was again where we all hung out. Awesome views!! Actually sad we aren't leaving from Miami on our next cruise, we would have loved to stay there again.

DTC,

Thanks for the pics, we are actually booked on the opposite corner (6452) in Sept.

I read some reports that there is alot of trash and dirt that blows down on the aft balconies, did you notice any?

Also read lack of privacy. Can you see around deviders or from above?

Looks like you had a great time. I cant wait to have my first aft wrap.

Bon Voyage.

I think you will actually get some better views than we did!!

We did end up with a baseball hat on a chair one day and some big soot ashes on the floor of the balcony on a few days. Also a piece of toilet paper came floating thru the wind and landed on our deck. I guess you could consider that garbage, but it wasn't a huge deal. Trust me, it will be worth your money!! I'd get it again in a heart beat. I'd go on the Liberty with the same itinerary in a heart beat also.

Privacy....not a whole lot. The dividers are angled so if you are facing aft and you neighbor is standing on their balcony, you can see each other with no effort at all. Wasn't a big deal for us, as we were fully clothed at all times and had our son with us!:D

Our first Carnival cruise was 15 yrs ago for our honeymoon. I can remember telling my husband that there were a lot of young people drinking (us being 2 of them). I was a little worried about that...................I can honestly say the average of people on that ship would be in the mid 40's. There were more old people than young ones. There were kids but I don't recall any getting on my nerves or being in the way. The parents were with them. No obnoxious people. I didn't even run into any real rude people. Some older retired folks were somewhat rude, cutting in lines because they were in a hurry to go no where. But not enough to ruin my trip. Seriously, it was great.

Every part of it. You will have a blast and be sad like us that it's over!!!:(

Have fun! Any other questions, let me know.
