Pushkin Posted March 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2010 I am looking to cruise on the Solstice this summer. I am new to Celebrity and appreciate any information/tips you can offer regarding balcony cabins. I have been reading posts about "hump" cabins. What exactly are these cabins? Thanks in advance from a hopeful future Celebrity passenger! We just returned from the 2/21/10 Solstice eastern Caribbean cruise. We were in hump cabins on deck 8. The benefits to the hump cabins are that they are fairly centrally located, and near the aft elevators. The hump also protrudes from the main body of the ship so it seems like you have a bit more of a view. We really enjoyed this location. Many like the cabins right off of the hump. These cabins have larger, angled balconies. I have been in an aft cabin and also enjoy seeing the wake from the balcony. Hope that helps. I love the Solstice class - nice size and amenities. kitkat9438 Posted March 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2010 The hump cabins have the largest balconies and are highly coveted. Depending on your budget, you may want to go with a Concierge Class or Aqua Class cabin, where you have a lot of extra amenities and earn two cruise credits instead of one. Here's a thread I have saved from another cruiser with the desirable cabin numbers to choose from. We are sailing the Eclipse in December and got cabin 1610, aqua class. Solstice Class: I personally LOVED my C1 hump cabin #1243 - about triple the size of a standard balcony - it was HUGE!!!!! Literally the largest non-suite balcony on the ship! The balcony was great for hosting cocktail parties - we had 25+ people out there one day! Being on the aft part of the hump there was virtually no wind issue to deal with. We got sun when we wanted it, and shade if desired as well. Due to balcony depth there were no privacy issues related to the angled shape. There are 58 +/- cabins with the same size balcony we had - they are: Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110 Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610 Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124 Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296 Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258 Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290 Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240 Most of these are on the hump, but some are forward where the ship starts to indent. The rooms run the range from Category 2C, 1A, C1, or AQ (with the exception of 6209/6210 which are categorized as 07 Obstucted Balcony - great balcony at a small price!). There are also many cabins adjacent to the ones I listed that also have oversized balconies that are about double the size of normal ones, but I would go for the triple sized ones first
jd1966 Posted March 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2010 First of all, the Solstice Class ships are just plain fantastic!!! We also had hump staterooms on Deck 9 (Panorama Deck). We really like the location because they are close to the stairs (which we use alot to avoid the weight gain) and the elevators. Whether you're going up or down you are never more than about three decks from everything. We have had Cabins 9223 and 9225 which are in the middle of the hump and have booked the same for two upcoming cruises. I think you'll find Celebrity a big step up from Princess (and I assume Carnival).
STXCruisers Posted March 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2010 http://www.celebritycruises.com/plancruise/ships/deck.do;jsessionid=0000ntWChduFrdkaV4giSEAzykO:12h3rnd1c?shipCode=SL Hope this link works. You can check out the deck plans and see where the hump cabins are that are mentioned in the other posters' replies. You can also see which ones are near the elevators, stairs, etc. Doris
StayC0216 Posted March 4, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted March 4, 2010 Thanks for the information! Any information on cabin 9192 or 8281? According to the list of cabins, I believe they are "hump" cabins. Also, is it loud near the stairs/elevators?
STXCruisers Posted March 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2010 Thanks for the information! Any information on cabin 9192 or 8281? According to the list of cabins, I believe they are "hump" cabins. Also, is it loud near the stairs/elevators? Found this on 9190, next door to 9192 on the sticky thread for Solstice cabin information. Didn't find anything right near 8281. Hope this helps. Deck - 9 Panorama Cabin # - 9190 Class – 1B Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Bed near?(balcony or bath) Bath Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – No. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstruction of view: Great view. There is a small bracket that hangs down from the floor above. Unless you're over 6'3'' it will not obstruct your view. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal Was wind a problem? no If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? no Any specific problems with this cabin? Located next to room attendant's closet. You hear the opening and closing of that door as they service rooms during the day, therefore I can't classify this cabin as 'quiet'. Not too bad at night though. MsJ Posted March 5, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Hi I am looking at the Eclipse for February 2011. How does one get a "hump" cabin? On both the online cruise websites and the Celebrity websites it says that the cabins with the "hump" numbers are not available. Does this mean that those cabins are already sold out this early? Thanks Marianne

However, I think the deck plan is wrong and 8232 is the first cabin forward on the flat part of the hump. I was hoping for the angle for a larger balcony and thought I had booked one but apparently the Celebrity deck plan is incorrect. Hard to believe they have not corrected this on their site.
