Snorkeling Freeport or Nassau?

So were are going to stop in Freeport (never been there) and Nassau. I want to wow the kids snorkeling. Can anyone suggest which is better and what would be the best place to do it (preferably not through the cruiseline)?

TIA,

I have not been snorkeling in Nassau, but the snorkeling in Freeport is excellent. Most of the tours work with the cruise lines, but Capt Tony's Sand Dollar is popular on this board. You'll want to snorkel at Treasure Reef, it's my favorite - lots of fish, beautiful coral - it's where all the snorkeling tours out of Port Lucaya go. Everyone I've brought there has been wowed.

Hey NYMAC4, I saw your post and went to the web site. I noticed that they had three prices. One was for cruisers, which was the higher price. Curious if you were charged that higher price. Also, it was a little confusing. On the description of the trip, it said cocktails and such, but then on the left under the pricing it said optional. Can you clarify. Thanks!

Hmmm .... I'm not sure about the "higher" price - I'd have to look back at what we paid but I remember thinking it was a reasonably priced excursion especially since it included the transportation and everything. Maybe that's why the cruisers price was higher - because they provided transportation to and from?? It's about a 20 minute drive ... The kids were less expensive than the adults. The trip did not include food or drinks although they were offered for sale on the boat. We ate a big breakfast before we left the ship and lunch when we get back so the kids just bought a few snacks on the excursion ... if you do email them they're great about emailing back if you have more specific questions. We did have to call them with a credit card to reserve our spot but they didn't charge the card until that day when we were there ...hope that helps!
