Would you host a roll call get together in your cabin and balcony?

We are sailing Glory in April and have been assigned a very large suite that has a large balcony as well.

Thinking of hosting a get together for folks from our CC roll call but dont know if that is proper or not. Thoughts?

I think it depends on the group and how you are feeling about them. We had a big get together on the Westerdam this last January that ended up in one of our group member's cabins. It was PACKED as it was a balcony cabin, not a suite, but we had a great time!

I am hoping to host a get together in my suite next January. I only have 9 months to go, so I will have to make a decision soon! ;-)

How nice of you! I don't think there is a "proper" way to do a meet n greet. If you feel comfortable offering your cabin as a meeting place, then by all means do so.

Make the offer, and let the people in your group know that if they prefer a more "active" location, like the aft pool or bar, then you understand.

I just did one on the Miracle in February. We had about 18 people and there was plenty of space as the balcony was an aft wrap-around and was huge. I would say GO FOR IT. It's a great way for others to see what you cabin is like. Everybody brought wine, etc and it worked out well. We did this for sail-a-way leaving port.

Probably not....'Cause we always get an interior cabin and even with Carnival's Large interior....there would not be enough room:D. We are usually more comfortable meeting at one of the bars!

We sailed on the Triumph last October and had an aft wrap balcony.

Before the cruise we got an upsell to aft wrap and invited everyone to a cocktail party the last sea day.

We had a roll call meeting on the first day and it did not work out very well.

Met a few people at a tour that we had prearranged but nobody else.

Had about 25-30 people to our cocktail party and it worked out very nicely.

I think it might be fun to have people come to the cabin. It would depend upon what you planned to do when they got there. For example, are you planning to serve drinks etc? That might get to be expensive. Is it going to be invitation only?

On one of our cruises people on the roll call were invited to a get together at sail away at one of the aft cabin balconies. It was a bring your own drink and it seemed to be a lot of fun for those who attended.

On another cruise, the suite occupants invited people from the roll call, and did send invitations so they knew how many people were invited. These people were quite well off and had two full cocktail parties in their suites with a bar waiter and snacks etc. They had them before dinner, one for early dinner and one for late. It was really well done and totally enjoyable. I don't expect to ever go to one of those again though, lol.

I think as long as some guidelines are set,so those coming know what to expect, it could be a great time for all. Enjoy your suite!

I have hosted three times to CC groups on 2 different cruises. Both times I had the long balconies 6232 on the Miracle and another one on the Spirit. We had a great time. We did a meet & greet at a bar ect. got to know each other some and then about the 3rd day had the "cocktail" party. I had everyone order an appetizer type thing from room service, bring their drinks and we had a great time!

I'd do it again with a large enough balcony. Lots of fun!

I posted a question the other day asking what a " cabin-crawl" was. (we are new) and a vetren crusier told me about a poker-cabin crawl.

I was told that you get at least 8 people and each couple/person hosts their cabin for a cocktail and one poker card. when you get a hand you arrange a meeting spot to determine the winner. It was $5.00 per person to add to the pot and each cabin has to bring their own deck of cards. I think there was one person that was in charge of adding the points. Not sure, but this sounds like fun. The post is probably a few pages back. You can read it for the rules.

My BF makes these really good shot drinks called "wedding cake" they taste just like vanilla cake with frosting. If we host a cabin, this will be our offering. I say meet and greet first then host your cabin.

But wouldn't you kind of know them from posting on the Roll Call throughout the time leading up to the cruise? We have an aft wrap around booked for our cruise in September and it would probably be cool if we meet some cool people through here to do something like that.

I don't think you really get to know someone on the boards. I mean you have no idea if they will be a total arse and get drunk causing a scene in your room or whatever. My room is my sactuary from all the drunk and non drunk PIA people that may be on board. LOL

I agree with the previous poster. I wouldn't because if someone for example is drunk and gets sick and throws up all over your bath or carpet, scratches your cabin furniture or sits on the table on the balcony and cracks it you are financially responsible. Have a meet and greet in a public space at a bar and if people want to come they'll buy a drink or pop.

Thanks for the input folks. Think I will stick with doing a public area Meet and Greet with the folks from the Roll Call and PERHAPS if I hit it off with a few off them, invite them to a private get together in the suite later in the week.

As long as you provide snacks and drinks as a host.

I think thats a great idea !

Remember CC members are not strangers ,there family !

When we did it we provided wine from the 5 liter box we brought on board and borrowed some cheese and bread and cookies and stuff from lido deck.

Some people brought some other stuff.

Worked out very nicely.

I personally would not because I know how PO'ed I would be if something came up missing or whatever. Too many places to meet up elsewhere. Now if I have a particular person that would just like to see my cabin layout I may escort them in and out.

Exactly. If someone is willing to put their selves out there on these boards, they probably are not serial killers. Crime stats on cruise ships are quiet low.

I have made life long friends from these roll calls and we cruise together often as a result. That's because I was able to get to know them through postings and I trusted that what they were posting was truthful.

And as for germs, you need to eat a little dirt now and then or you will be sickly. And if you wash it down with some red wine, all is well.:p
