moopdog Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2010 We're thinking of doing the Sheraton day-pass thing, when we go on the Gem March 20th. But we also hate to miss the opportunity to at least SEE Atlantis & maybe the free aquarium, etc. If we're at Sheraton are we in the vicinity of Atlantis & would it be a short walk, cab ride, water taxi, or what?? And if we DO do this, I get the impression there are no locker rooms to use at the Sheraton. Aside from getting a day-room for $99, what are our options for changing and getting the sand off of us before venturing to other parts of Nassau? The distance question goes for shopping on Bay Street too...heard good things about shopping there. Will we be near it and is it in a "safe" area? You arrive downtown in the Port area just 1 block from Bay Street Shopping. The sheraton is located on Cable Beach, about 5 miles west of port. Atlantis is located on paradise island, (connected by bridges). About 5 miles east and over the bridges from port. So you are in opposite directions. There are no lockers at Sheraton, best you can do is the restroom to clean up. Or get a day room as you mentioned. To get to the Sheraton, you can take a cab from port, or take the #10 jitney for $1.25. Jitney's run from 6am - 6:30pm daily. To get to Atantis from downtown, you can take a cab, or grab a ferry for $3 pp. Ferries run every 30 minutes from 9am - 6pm daily. To move from one to the other.. You can take a cab from sheraton to Atlantis, or cab/jitney back to town and take the ferry. Atlantis will be packed .. it's spring break.
mjkacmom Posted March 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2010 I'm pretty sure the aquarium at Atlantis isn't even close to being free.
scubagirrl Posted March 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2010 I'm pretty sure the aquarium at Atlantis isn't even close to being free. There are free Viewing windows in the Great Hall of waters. About 80 feet of floor to ceiling windows open to the public. After hours (after the pools close around 5pm during the winter months, 7pm in summer).. the DIGS aquarium and Predator Lagoons are unguarded and noone will stop you from walking thru the aquariums without a pass. During the daytime, the full aquarium experience is $35pp.
