I posted a simliar question before, but I think it got lost in the thread:

Is it possible to get on this cruise at a reduced rate? If so, who would you contact about it? TIA! --Katie

i called my pvp. No decisions will be made until 9:30 tomorrow. Call your pvp and have them be looking out for you. But they have had alot of calls about this.

We just got home from Galveston. We did check in at the convention center for cruise. Per the letter we were given, we are to get 15pp for lunch allowance, 20pp for refund of port fees, 20% off future cruise if before Dec 2011, and a refund of cruise fare to be prorated for missed day.

There were more people than I would have thought, that did get in the rain check line. This will be only a cruise to nowhere.

Sad to spend all afternoon hoping to get on a ship. Huge letdown to count down to 0 days for cruise and then have to add a day

Sorry you had to miss your cruise! We are going in May have a great role call going so far so get busy rescheduleing!! Use that 20% off and go on a five day!

We did ask if the fog lifted later this evening, if the ship would port. We were told that customs do not work around the clock. Once they were done for the day, tomorrow would be the only option.

Our pvp has called us all day trying to keep us updated and wondering whether we intend to cruise.

Having to sit at home and drink mimosas. This is not what I intended to be doing tonight.

Kinda funny (or not) how the countdown says sailed and yet here you are chatting with us.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure we can get our act together this fast, but if it's super cheap, we're sure gonna try! --Katie

Yeah i am waiting on the call in the AM. It is spring break next week so I would just throw some suitcases together, yank the kids out of school and go down there to get on. no absences for them.

By looking at the number of people who chose not to sail tomorrow, there should be at least a dozen or so rooms.

There is however, a chartered bus with 58 kids who are also now waiting to board . Not sure of the ages. They were frantically trying to assist them in arranging rooms for the night. They were left afoot once dropped by charter bus.

I'm interested in going. Do I have to call Carnival or can I book it online? I've been fogged in and out of Galveston. I'd rather be fogged in than fogged out. It's just a personal preference.

Can't do anything until tomorrow at 9:30 am is what i was told

My son is on the Ecstasy. He called at 4:00 pm to tell me about the fog but I haven't heard since and I can't reach him on his phone. Can anyone give me an update?

Seaski, just saw this over on the Galveston webcam. ' ship not in until 7 am tomorrow - they did go back to Intl waters for some reason.'

Since they went further out into international waters that could be why you can't reach him on his cell phone

That's not accurate information. The ship is not on it's scheduled itinerary for today. It did go back out to open waters - it was suggested so that the casino could open.

T2c,

thanks so much for info! I had been worried about him and just realized a few minutes ago that someone on cruise critic would probably know the status--and you did! Now, I am going to bed assuming that he is enjoying one more evening on his cruise and will arrive in the morning. I will sleep better...and hope he is, too (not so sure about his girlfriend who is supposed to be at work in the morning!)

Yeah, that site has 2 settings for position, actual position and scheduled position.

Most the time the X is in the scheduled position except when it is in a port

I looked at that same site that gives the location for any given ship, but what it was showing for the Ecstasy was the SCHEDULED location, not the ACTUAL location (hence the discrepancies...)

Would be pretty neat to see Actual locations, especially for situations like this.

My first cruise turned into a cruise to nowhere out of Galveston. The Celebration lost it's power and was moving too slow. They didn't get into port until 9:00pm. We boarded at midnight, but still got our extra day's credit. They gave better deals back then for these situations. We still loved our 3.5-day nowhere cruise. Just don't worry about what you're missing, and make the most of it.

update they were just told can cancel with FULL REFUND! If you decide to still cruise tomarrow a cruise to nowhere with $50 OBC PP and 20% off next cruise

20% off a future cruise plus $50 OBC on this cruise doesnt sound like a bad deal. I would have taken it.

Probably will cost $50 to get a last minute hotel at least though...even a cheap one like econo lodge which starts at $39.99.
