scarlett1021 Posted March 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2010 My family is booked on the Splendour in Arpil, and one of our stops is Athens. But... I've been keeping up with the news there, and the civil unrest is crazy. I've been trying to find out if cruise ships in general are being diverted from that port to another, but I've had no luck. I haven't seen anything on these boards about it, so I was just wondering if anyone out there had heard anything or had some suggestions about searching for additional info? Or had been through a situation like this before with Royal Caribbean, and where they send you instead? As nice as it would be to see Athens, I'm totally up for another island instead... like Santorini... has that happened to anyone recently? Any rumors? Anything?? I appreciate any advice or info you guys have to offer. Thanks!! :-)
jcl410 Posted March 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2010 I had not heard of any unrest, but then again, I'm not going to Greece soon. Have you taken a look at the State Dept. travel web site? While they are concerned with the level of violence, there is no reccomendation to stay away. (They do STRONGLY say to stay away from those areas where most of the demonstrations are.) Good luck; Athens is a VERY pretty city. Aloha, John
