stay on or get off that's the ?

Recommended Posts

I always get off at a new port one time just to say I did. After that, I enjoy the privacy of a virtually empty ship. icon_cool.gif

I always get off the ship in port, even if it's somewhere I've been to umpteen times, I still like to shop and have lunch or go to the besch. Or if it's somewhere I've been to several times and it's not the nicest place, like Jamaica, I like to take a different shore excursion each time I am there just to keep it interesting.

I really wish that Jamaica was a safe place to walk around in... It's so pretty there but the locals WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE. Ugh - But I still get off the ship each and every time!

We get off the ship at every port. Of course, we've only been on two cruises, so there's a lot we haven't seen. We haven't been to a port we weren't interested in and there isn't one on the cruises I have booked, so for another couple of years, we'll be getting off the ship.

For us it certainly depends on the port. Some we have been to many times but still enjoy walking around, other we stay on the ship. We do enjoy being on the ship that is virtualy empty and love to watch everyone return to the ship from our balcony.

By half and half, I assume you mean get off for a while and hang out on ship for a while. That's what we do. icon_wink.gif I like to do a little shopping in each port to contribute to the economy. icon_biggrin.gif

I enjoy staying on the boat if there are no excursions that appeal to me in a port. I'm not much for shopping and wandering aimlessly doesn't appeal to me that much. Playing basketball was actually a highlight of my trip last time and I never would have done it if it wasn't practically empty onboard. It was great.

I agree with Folgy. A terrific itinerary might have one really awful port(I know, it's a subjective thing). We've done a lot of traveling, especially in the Caribbean, so we choose to stay on board and have a quiet, relaxing day, say, when the ship docks at Martinique - long story...

As much as I love the ship and sea days I always get off the ship in port....can't imagine a port I wouldn't get off the ship for.

To me, one of the lures of cruising is the "traveling hotel" thing....waking up in a new port every morning is just too wonderful.
