arlenez Posted March 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Has anyone taken a taxi tour in Hellesylt to Geiranger or Briksdal Glacier. Our ship arrives there on May 25, 2010 for 8 hours and our cruise line only offers two tours which are quite expensive. Any suggestions for private tours? Thanks & regards, Arlene

Thanks & regards, Arlene We booked this company for our tour in July - so cannot tell if they are good: http://geirangertaxi.no/en/prices.html BUT it takes a while before you get an answer... so it's never too early to start asking them. Regarding Hellesylt: as far as I understood HAL only passengers with booked ship's tours will be released in Hellesylt. All others must stay to Geiranger. Check this with your ship line. Regards. HeinBloed THANKS, HeinBloed! This looks like a good website and company. BUT, when you look at the various options of places such as Dalsnibba, Flydalsjuvet or Djupvasshytta, it notes that "There are no translations available" to explain what this tour would be or where it goes. Any better ideas or suggestions for figuring out their options and what being offered? It will be July 13 when we are in Helleysylt and Geiranger. It looks like the 2700 passenger Costa Magica will be the only other cruise ships in these harbors while we will be there on this day. Our ship is fairly small with only about 300 passengers. There will be four of us traveling together. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Or you speak a little Danish like me and understand mostly the Norwegian website... It took weeks but I finally made the booking I need. I got him few times on the phone - few mails. Good Luck. Just start and ask them. "Lost in Translation" - exactly like the movie... with regards from Shanghai 05.30 am Regards HeinBloed
luvnorway Posted April 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Some of the most beautiful fjord scenery you'll ever see on a large cruise ship is the short passage from Hellesylt to Geiranger. Don't miss the gorgeous high rock cliffs and waterfalls that most people take a fjord cruise to see. If you do an overland tour that disembarks you in Helleysylt and picks you up in Geiranger, make sure you are out on deck for the sail out. (Geiranger fjord is a dead end, so the ship will leave via the same route it took coming in from Hellesylt.)
