NHRedSoxFan Posted March 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Crane Beach has public access. You don't have to go through the hotel to get there. There is a section where you can rent chairs/umbrellas closer to the public access. All of the cab drivers know the way. If you want a pass to the resort they don't really have that but you can have lunch there and use the hotel access to the beach, but not the pools, resort chairs, etc. They don't have day passes. Tell them at the gate that you want to have lunch there. You pay to go through the resort - it used to be $25 bds pp. and they give you a credit for that same amount at the restaurant. You used to be able to rent a room - only for the day to change, take a shower, use the pools. It used to be a little more than $100 us. I don't know how much it is now or if they still do it. If you want to use the public access, you can get a picnic lunch at Cutters deli right outside the Crane and have your lunch at the beach. All of the beaches in Barbados are public. NHRedSoxFan Posted March 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2010 PS - the public access is a little tricky at high tide.... note the concrete pads laid into the stone to make a walkway Most people can handle this easily, but if you or someone you're travelling with has mobility issues you may want to use the hotel route and have lunch there. gpower Posted March 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2010 In case you are interested, here are the details on what a pass pass at Cranes entails. Currently, the price for the Day Pass is US$45.00 per person, which includes access to the beach and pools with towels and beach chairs, as well as a hospitality room which allows you to shower and change. That sounds like a much-improved product (with corresponding 'much-improved' pricing) :)compared to what I was told on the phone, about 2 yrs. ago when it used to be Bds.$25, I think.. . Johnthed0g Posted March 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2010 I bet you can still go in "for lunch" & use the beach by paying the BDS$ 25, I don't recommend the ''back entrance'' though... bit precarious!
caribophile Posted September 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Just spoke to the people at Cranes Resort. A day pass is $13US and includes access to the beach, a towel, and a chair. You can apply this toward a lunch or drink at their restaurant and bar. When I asked how I should reserve that, I was told to call that morning.
