jessegirl88 Posted March 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2010 We are cruising out of Brooklyn (Red Hook) in July and want to know what side of the ship is the Statue of Liberty. We have a balcony room and are wondering if we can see it from our balcony. Room A510. Thanks
C&F Posted March 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Starboard side sailing out. Port side sailing back in. Sailing out of New York is a GREAT experience! Enjoy!

susanrobert Posted March 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2010 You can actually see the Statue of Liberty from the ship when docked. She's off the starboard side. You will get much closer when the ships sails.
RickEk Posted March 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Yes, Lady Liberty is on the starboard side of the ship as you leave New York Harbor... and you might be treated with a view of another ship leaving from Manhattan... And on the port side as you arrive back in NYC. Enjoy your cruise!

booklady26 Posted March 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Be sure not to miss sailing under the Verrazano Bridge. Be up on the top deck and as you pass under it you think the ship will never make it. Not to worry, you will!
Occy Posted March 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Nice pictures Rick. Unfortunately when we docked after a Eastern Canada/New England cruise in Oct. it was so foggy we cldn't see anything. Guess that definitely calls for another trip embarking or disembarking in NY !!!!!
lolane1 Posted March 19, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 19, 2010 I believe your cabin, A510, is port side (even numbers). Unfortunately, you will not have the view of the Statue of Liberty and Governor's Island from your balcony before the cruise starts. But a short walk to an open deck will fix that. Coming back I remember it was pretty dark last year as we entered New York harbor but the sun did eventually rise!
