Infinity, and HAL Oosterdam

Ok, not trying to start a HAL vs X battle.

My reason for asking here is that I've been on X, know what I loved about it...and haven't been on HAL.

Thinking of booking an Alaska cruise for someone very important in my business life and want it to be close to flawless.

Being a newbie fan of X I've just about settled on a Royal Suite, Infinity but have been reading multiple comments about how the ship needs a drydock, and it's more than a scratch here and there.

Enter HAL Oosterdam. Questions:

1.)7 day on HAL...summertime....I take it the avg age of pax will be lower than typical HAL?

2.)Suite Life: How does HAL compare to X?

*X Butler service was awesome.

*X room service was great.

3.)Food

*How is MDR vis a vis food quality, temperature and service?

*Same question, re buffet

*Same question, re alternative restaurant.

Any differences you can point out, good or bad would help. Thank you.

We enjoy both cruiselines and have been on both ships. Have not been on Infinity in recent months so not familiar with what needs to be made over.

I would say the Infinity is a more sophisticated cruise experience especially in the dining room and Oosterdam has a feeling of returning home, more casual. So if you are trying to impress a business associate X would be my choice but there certainly isn't anything wrong with HAL either.

Both have wonderful aft cabins that would be my choice. Good luck with your decision.

Hi,

We have also sailed on both on these lovely ships. The Infinity has some things the Oosterdam doesn't - the indoor Thalassatherapy pool, indoor hot tubs and Aqua Spa Cafe for lighter fare at breakfast and lunch. Those amenities keep us sailing on the Milennuim Class of Celebrity Ships.

Both ships are wonderful - can't miss with either - but we prefer Celebrity.

Enjoy - and good luck! :)
