Hair Dryers

Recommended Posts

Okay, just double checking. We are not permitted to bring hair dryers on board, but there ARE hair dryers in each room, correct?

What about other hair appliances? Flat iron? Tripple Barrel? Curling Iron?

I've also read something about power strips...

Are these items allowed?

Thanks - I'm a newbie to cruising :)

Thanks for the quick replies. So I can bring a hair dryer? I thought I saw somewhere that that's a no no. Well see what kind of space left in my bags. I guess if it's included i shouldn't really need one, anyway.

On a completely different note, I'm watching titanic on TNT. Ice always bee. A fan of it, but now it's scary and making me queesy. Did that ever happen to anyone else? Hahaha!

I have no idea what "Ice alway bee" means, but I've not read of any icebergs in Mexico or Panama, which is where Granduer sails to.

So....no worries there. It is a great movie, though.

Edit to answer your original question, there are no restrictions on bringing your own hair dryer. If it is too powerful, it will either cut off itself or cut off the power to yours and other cabins around you. I have a travel dryer that is too powerful for cruise ships, it stops working on its own rather than blow a circuit.

YES, and that's why I turned it off right after they hit the 'you know what'. I think it was on last year too, just before my first cruise. After getting on board and seeing how much there was to do, I didn't have time to worry about anything 'unexpected'. Have fun!

Thanks, that one had me confused since it was its own sentence. I didn't automatically think of typos. I've made the same kind of mistakes on my phone as well.

Still, no worries about icebergs in that region of the world...at least not yet ;)

Our first cruise on Explorer I didn't bring my hair dryer because they have one in the cabins. Big mistake. I had long, thick hair and for the dryer to work, you must hold the button down to keep it on! After 15 minutes, my thumb was numb, and I wasn't finished drying. Never again! Our cruise on 11-7-10, 12 nightes on the Explorer, I'll definitely bring my own. We are allowed to bring dryers, flat/curling irons, but not irons to press clothes....

Have a wonderful time!

I read in a previous post someone using their curling iron or flat iron to iron their clothes  they advised just as long as there is no gunk on the iron ;)

I'll still keep thinking on the dryer. It's only a 5 day/4 night cruise... My hair is moderatly thick and is getting long, it takes me about 10 minutes to do it even with my dryer at home... I still haven't decided if I will check luggage or not, since I will be flying into FLL from milwaukee.

As far as the iceberg goes, I'm not too concerned. It was just my first time watching the movie since I've booked a cruise-get's ya thinking! I know I sure won't be first class--good thing I'm a woman :p

Thanks for all your tips!
